I think it’s the opposite. If those fans have been hurt by the competition being tightened and made more competitive with their teams being cut, they’re more within their rights than most to expect the same of other franchises too.

I think if Super Rugby is to continue and this commission has the best interests of the competition at heart, it needs to make the competition as tight and compelling, with engaged fan bases, as possible. Should clarify too Purce, I absolutely agree with you re: lack of consistency in refereeing. When you think about it it’s kind of insane how you could watch two games of rugby back to back and almost see two different sports.

Yeah and it’s on us to be wise enough to see this early and adapt our own game accordingly. We clearly did not until far too late. A few people rightly highlighted us waiting for penalties that never came a few times - we were in a dockyard brawl and just needed to scrap right back.
