    Australian Rugby / RA

The above article highlights how bias and favouritism was shown by RA in the team cutting decision. It clearly demonstrates supports my call for the competition to be self governing. Like soccer with the Lowy family wanting absolute control and the game effectively had the courage to fight...

Wam, in a word YES. Meaning to succeed and survive we need excellence in governance and competition systems. Whereas we have by light years the worst competition and governing systems. Meaning we are hugely disadvantaged by our own management. Adam Smith in the Wealth of Nations, penned the...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Without trying to sound an alarmist, nor looking to much at other codes. However until we have an independent competition to run we will continue in a tailspin that is becoming more difficult to pull out of. My sense is looking at both soccer and league they are engaged in the clubs having...

2018 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Very interesting, TBH not much, soccer has been in a civil war for two years. They still have people queuing up to get in. If in doubt follow the money they are within weeks maybe months of creating an independent league with the clubs running it and starting up a second division.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Fox appear from media reports today to have tied up the cricket . There is a huge cross over between union & cricket fans. So how important will Super Rugby be to Fox when the subscribers lost would be reasonably small I think if Fox have the cricket.

R Co Costings The A-League has ten teams over 27 rounds playing 135 games, from Perth to Wellington. They report their travel cost as 8 million. Let’s assume with only 16 rounds with most on the east coast we could half that say 4 million. Assume we get revenue to cover travel. The...

The Model The model is based on US models especially Gridiron & the MLS. These models work by a company or trust being formed, say X Co. X Co shareholders are its member clubs. Lets call our model R Co To be a member of R co you need to commit 15 million dollars over ten years to...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Cyclopath, as while back, kinda inspired me to think a lot more. His comments about the need to change but let’s no rush into a fail situation makes sense. BH seems to be following a similar line of thinking. As I see it Super Rugby is in its last days whether in two or six years or eight years it’s in...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think people now understand what the repercussions are of the flawed Super Rugby model, I only hope we move quickly to fix it as the future generations will bemoan the legacy we have left them.

Maybe the real questions should be. How have we created a competition thats needs 15 million per team????? With the 15 million needed to be recovered in a handful of local matches and in a relatively short season?????????????????????????

    Where to for Super Rugby?

As part of that process we need to accept that """tick the box compliance """ is just that and while it helps with government grants etc it masks mega problems and so many people will defend rugby's admins if we compare their outcomes with what other codes do. I recall having huge arguments...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

For me the question is simple. We have a clear choice, Plan A is Super Rugby. Then we need to do Super Rugby better or simply do better with Plan A than we are doing. Plan B, is accepting Plan A is not working and looking for a viable alternative. Its wishful thinking to think from the get go Plan B will...

Quick & Dru Just a final couple of comments. I mentioned earlier I wanted corporate team owners and a MLS style model. BTW the MLS model is broadly based on the American Football Model [gridiron]. The model works by, a company is formed lets call it X co. X co has shareholders who are the...

Sorry I did not explain myself well enough. The often talked of Plan B. If Super Rugby falls over, then take the existing 8 NRC teams and add Newcastle. 9 team two round competition so 16 games. Plus finals. Add a kinda SOO serious at the end, Reds, Tahs, ACT, Other [southern States] in a say 3...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Wam Don't know where to start, if you offer the right environment with good governance, and a decent outline, there are people willing to put their hands up. Many people want to own sporting clubs. It comes down to price, If you could say you will loose no more than between 1.5 & 2...

He is allowed to have an independent mind and to hold his own views. The carry on about his comments sadden me. Democratic freedoms attacked by I don't like that view folk IMO is a cause for concern.
