Round 3: Reds vs Chiefs, 6:45pm AEST - Saturday 9th of March @ Suncorp

Pleasing result for the Reds under the new coaching regime.

Thought he was leading a cancer charity or something these days, Shanky. Don't know if I'd expect a middle-aged former test forward to look like Pierce Brosnan. But so long as he's lucent, ... and can say "duck à l'orange"?

Am aware it's not a new idea. It's also not a great idea. Geographically far, plus timezone stretch and a new startup for high-level rugby. At least Japan is only geographically far ... and even that idea is not easy to achieve.

Am not saying it's a good option. Unfortunately rugby administration in Australia is perennially bereft. Hawaii / California is clownshop, if true... Maybe it is merely a Newscorp invention

Breaking might be an option for the game. Blow it all up and go back to being amateur?

Credit the optimism. I have trekked to the G in the past to watch rugby, but will now cede that opportunity to other punters.

Maybe the Vics have a cancelled cheque left over after they euthanised the Comm Games? If these jokers can cut a cheque for the big event, then maybe they should help keep their local team alive ...

Yeah, even if there is animosity, I still want a team based in Melbourne.

True ... But it's all about $elling $eats to $uckers ... even if I could secure tickets I wouldn't be flying there to sit in them.

The analogy doesn't work and the NRL will never be what the NFL is.

Neither comparison works. Best takeaway is: We.are.not.America. Sure, there are some commonalities but they're greatly outweighed by the difference. If you start with a U.S. template, you need to dial it down by 10.

There's actually a double benefit here. It not only increases the number of home games, but the ratio of away games in a closer time zone also goes up. +1 Also agree with this, as per Zero ... Am still sceptical about the downsides of Soup but, if we're locked into it, then improvements like...

Wasn't Pearce originally a hooker who moved to prop (and showed promise)? Hopefully he can make a mark either way!

Sexton was pedestrian in the world cup when it mattered and looked like a bloke pushing thirty-nine years. Peak Johnny, yeah, he's their all time outhalf ... but not now. Would almost be like us trying to play Quade in 2025 or 2027. Still, Ireland made the QF and played a tight match against...

    Super Rugby General Chat

When Beale returned, his agreement was "until the end of 2023"... His lawyers, a few months ago, secured court permission for him to travel overseas to take up *unconfirmed* offers to play. But perhaps that's just a smokescreen and he's still training to suit up for the Tahs -- at thirty-five...
