I think it's about fan engagement. People on G&GR seek out the rugby. So it may not matter if the Tahs don't advertise etc as we know where to go to get our "fix". Did you know that the Waratahs has a position called Head of Fan Engagement? Not sure what the responsibilities of the role are...
