Crusaders Vs Tahs - Mordor - 27th May

DC mentioned some of the players were "cooked" in his press conference after the Drua game - but also suggested he wouldn't be resting too many this week. So that's pretty much where we've ended up.

Crusaders Vs Tahs - Mordor - 27th May

Great to see Charlie Gamble gets the chance to go back to Christchurch with the 7 jersey on his back.

Crusaders Vs Tahs - Mordor - 27th May

Agree. Edmed probably needs at least a week of club rugby to recoup some match fitness, much better than being dropped into the frontlines against the Crusaders. Of course, he has a 100% record against them. There seems to be some talk that Jorgensen might be rested, but I'd be concerned about...

Waratahs vs Drua - Saturday 20 May 2023

Ed’s been marked with a + previously, indicating he’d be back later then the following week. Now it’s just Rd 14.

Waratahs vs Drua - Saturday 20 May 2023

Round 14 is next week? Big for returning players, though maybe only Lambert and Foketi jump straight back in, Edmed prob needs a week of club rugby.

    Refereeing decisions

The law mentions that you can't have more than one player pre-bound (or possibly that was just a recent trial variation), and I thought the Tahs could have been penalised for that. But I don't think a "must face forward" law would make any difference - 99% of the time the maul starts straight...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

And conversely, I think Stan has had Australian commentators on more overseas Wallabies tests than was previously the case. Mostly commentating from an Australian studio, but it's definitely an improvement on some of the local commentary in Sth Africa, etc.

    Refereeing decisions

There's a great interview with Angus Gardner on the Roar rugby podcast this week, which goes into a lot of detail around how they review matches, interact with teams, etc. Well worth a listen.

    Waratahs 2024

Darren Coleman's contract runs until end of 2024 season.

    Shute Shield 2023

Um, I think Edmed's had the first go at 10 for the Tahs every time he's been available - he's been injured since about Round 3 this year, and the likelihood he re-takes the 10 spot on his return has only improved each week...

    Reds v Waratahs in Townsville

From the injury list published last week by the Tahs, it's only Harry Wilson and Tane Edmed who could be back this week, and Edmed was listed as week 11+ for return. I'd love to see Edmed back, and I reckon Donaldson needs to take a step back to regain confidence, but I suspect we'd have heard...

    Week 10 - Waratahs vs Highlanders - Friday 7.35pm

I can't imagine Latu thought he'd spend this much time playing in Granville after returning from France.

    Week 10 - Waratahs vs Highlanders - Friday 7.35pm

Excellent question - none of the starting backs can slide into 10 either.

    Week 10 - Waratahs vs Highlanders - Friday 7.35pm

Better team than last week. Have they published the injury update yet?

    Australian Rugby / RA

First day of the Wallaby camp when Marika returns (before the mid-year Tests?) would have been ideal, a great way to kick off the Wallaby part of the season.

    Wallabies 2023

Yeah, I get that. More to the point that NRL backs aren't necessarily on a different level to their rugby counterparts. Katoa was the best player on the field when playing at CAS level, but it's not like he was on a different planet. If he'd gone to Super Rugby, I don't think he'd have been an...

    Wallabies 2023

Yes, Izzy Katoa has just gone from Sydney schoolboy rugby straight into NRL.

    Wallabies 2023

Sua'ali'i prefers Aurelius? WTF? Why didn't anyone check this out before signing him to a multi-million dollar contract?!

    Aussie coaching exodus

Australian coaches working overseas is not necessarily a problem - I think every Wallabies head coach, and most Super head coaches, need to have some overseas experience on their resume. The key thing is that RA needs to be working with these coaches through that time to make sure they're not...
