Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

Forecast to be 31C at kick off time.

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

Not fans. Media. But also may just be my perception. Certainly the previews on Stan talked the Force up as hard to beat and the Rebels as their strongest squad ever.

Super Rugby Round One: Reds vs Waratahs. Suncorp Feb 24

Back to talking about the game and not tickets and crowds… Last nights games gave another indication of where super franchise rugby is at. Force and Rebels well beaten, out played and out skilled after both getting talked up by the media. I hope the Reds play to their potential with the same...

Reds v Waratahs - Roma Festival of Rugby 10 Feb

Just a trial game? Not for the Reds who looked more desperate and more inventive than a plodding Waratahs team, who struggled in the conditions with their “big powerful pack”. I hope Suncorp gets 30,000 to watch this side who will entertain, take risks and go after the game. Well done coaches...

    Queensland Reds 2024

He’s a tremendous ex-rep of QLD rugby undeniably but sport is now a business and the successful ones have more diversity of thought on their boards. That’s all. He’s a players association nominated rep so fair enough he’s probably as well qualified as anyone. However, I can’t see him challenging...

    Queensland Reds 2024

Nothing against James but you’d think there’d be more creative and inspired choices for director positions at a professional sporting franchise, assuming they’re aspiring to be a greater organisation than the past? What point of difference does he bring? More group think occurs with this type of...

    SVNS Series 2023/24

Interesting tactics by Ireland. Slowed the game by calling scrums at every opportunity but too good on the day for the Aussie girls who learned some new lessons.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Checks Not comparing apples to apples. It’s nothing to do with relative population. Australia has 27m people but Ireland is 94% white Irish whereas half of Australia’s rugby players are Polynesian. The 4 professional Irish provinces don’t play Super Rugby against NZ provinces. They play in...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Disappointing for Rebels fans. But this is probably not a bad thing for rugby in this country. A franchise in Melbourne feels forced (no pun intended) and 3-4 teams is the absolute maximum we have in terms of talent. Happy to be shot down but 5 SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) teams is too many for the state rugby is in.

    Australian Rugby / RA

How leaky is RA? I mean, good to see rugby press but these guys cannot keep a secret. They need to weed out the leaks.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Hopefully Les Kiss and his team have a bit more of an open mind to the broader squad playing more games (ie: Hospital Cup) even though they might have training commitments during the week. Cannot be bad for their development and for their clubs.

    Waratahs 2024

I’d be more concerned about Max Jorgensen who’d be a sensational back up to James Tedesco on the wing and then take over when he retires. Particularly with the family connection to the Roosters.

He might learn how to tackle. Joseph for Mark?

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Good contest. The defence was better than I’ve seen at this level in previous years. Hopefully it’s seen as more of a priority to get selected in higher representative levels.

What’s the deal with all the Sydney club rugby men playing for ACT? How long have they been affiliated with the Brumbies?

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

The NSW #7 has been one of their best - great work rate and repeat efforts. Darcy Swain obviously lost a bet!
