    NSW AAGPS 2023

Not a big fan but over the years there has been the odd game played as a curtain raiser to NSW or Wallaby Matches..I can think of examples in the 90's. Maybe they were trials but certainly not whole days of opens rugby.

Could it just be an opposed training session? Dont let those Brookie Brewsters near our Hyper Chamber ;)

I was once one of those pesky Bagpipers :)

    Shute Shield 2023

After some initial "teething problems" with the local NHRU clubs the Wildfires are now pretty much their own thing. Its great for rugby in the area. They are seeing players move to Newcastle to play SS without having to be in the big smoke of Sydney. I understand they have a great set up within...

I never I never thought there was a formal 3rd XV competition until the recent entry in the 00's with SHS 1's, SGS 1's, TAS 1's - during the 90's it was only 1's and 2's. Suspect there may have been something more official back in the 60's?

Could be Covid delays as well? Price of materials gone thru the roof.

How do you sydneysiders feel about this? We joke up here that the blokes that let them in the comp 2020 arent too happy !!

    Shute Shield 2023

You might be thinking of Penrith here pal - Newcastle have not lost by 100 since re-birth in 2020. I'd suggest they have not been beaten by 100 in any grade ever :)

Not a Joeys boy but that is pretty cool.

Can confirm the Plumer Road Chicken Shop was particularly busy with the boys from Kirkland House in the 90's - particularly when we saw what was being served up for dinner that night. Was common to run into NSW & Wallabies players from ESDRUFC at the same place.

Same goes with Stu Pinkerton TSC 87 - he's now the GM at the Wildfires. Warwick Waugh was another from TSC similar vinatge.

I feel that ship has passed - Is it just Rugby they struggle to compete in? Assume they are ok in most other sports and have a sport of "focus"?

Hows the new "scottish castle' building coming along?

I think his boy is now back (or very recently) at the College.

Those SHS teams from 93-94 were unreal. Look at the names.

Have you got a match report on either these games above? Re: Final Game at BH - the whole Scots Centenary Year was primed to that day in September 1993. Indeed the draw needed to swap for 2 years between the 2 schools so they could have their respective 93-94 "grand finals" at their home...

    Understandable in the modern day.

I was there too. Great report. No mention of the (slang used by low IQ schoolboys)s :) End of the day scots got their 93 and joeys got their 94. SHS were unlucky to run into both these sides otherwise they could have had a double 93/94.

    This is odd. Wonder why?

    NSW AAGPS 2023

Indeed. I remember the SJC (slang used by low IQ schoolboys)s magically coming on late in the second half of the J v S 1994 decider at HH killing the S momentum. You couldn't make it up. Game stopped for 5 or 6 minutes. There is also the legend story of the Mother of Mary Statue on top of SJC building turning to face...
