3rd Place Play Off - Wallabies v Wales.

Bob Dwyer nominated a team about 3 weeks ago on a forum page. Is this team anything like the one he nominated? I'm too lazy to look it up. Hope Sharpie gets to have a kick at goal, or hand out jerseys, or run on first. This might be his last hurrah in the green and gold. He has been a...

2013: The Lions Tour Look Ahead

After yet another end of season tour, inbound june tests, trinations in 2012 I think the lions in 2013 will be a breath of fresh air. It was in 2001. And, that team listed above look like a massive challenge. Yep, lions tours for me are mor eexciting than Tri nations and bledisloes, simply...

    Congrats All Blacks!

Well done to the All Blacks. You are all class. The result in some ways flattered the Wallabies. We were out gunned in all positions from 1 - 15. Congratulations on hosting a spectaculr world cup.

    Robbie Deans

Last weeks defense was brave and tireless but not really test. Tackling Burger and their big hardworking loosies is different to tackling a team of smart players like the AB's. The AB's will not be as dumb as the saffers and they will actually be able to execute accurately. This will be the...

RWC 2011 SF2: Australia vs. New Zealand

Yes and this is about who can build and sustain pressure. There are enough cracks in both teams for the opposition to expose. Good call on Samo BTW

RWC 2011 SF2: Australia vs. New Zealand

I wish I knew how fit McCabe is. Also KB (Kurtley Beale) and Horne. Sharpe is better at lineouts than Simmons, I would have Sharpe. 4/3 bench is fair given that our backs ( including Digby ) are a bit busted. AB's have a 4/3 bench.

    The Wallaby gameplan

Pressure on Weipu My latest thought is that Piri Piri needs to feel the heat from our pack. This is a direct borrow from our opponents playbook. Pressure 9 and see how their new No 10 performs. Also, Piri Piri has got a huge amount of responsibility in this game on top of a standard No 9's...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

I have a theory that starts with Burger and ends with Cooper. The Yarpies are giving Burger a big wrap for what he achieved in the QF loss. I partially agree. He was good, he didn't make many mistakes, he was committed, he got through alot of work. Where I disagree goes back to their...

    The Wallaby gameplan

Athilnaur Yeah Kaino is a huge asset. Even with an injured McCaw the AB backrow has an edge on ours, but if our forwards and midfield play like bled2 all bets are off in backrow. How will Read play? He will be at least excellent I'd say, potentially superb, same for Rocky.[/B] My view on...

    Papparazzi - Former Wallaby Spotting

I would love to see photos of any former Wallabies spotted in NZ over the finals series. Obviously there are plenty doing media duties. It would be great to see photos of GAGR members up close and personal with former players, and for that matter, any major / mini celebrity. Try and find the...

Cooper - Good or Great rugby player - discuss.

Mackenzie always has a sensible view on things. I have been of the opinion that the lineout debacle has been glossed over and that Vickerman, Horwill, Samo and Moore have got off lightly in terms of criticism. If anything, fans have ben criticising the props for quiet games but the scrum...

    The Wallaby gameplan

Kaino is the player to nullify in the AB's IMO Kaino is their danger man. He was missed in the TN final like we missed Pocock vs the Irish. He influences the forwards battle the most from the AB's. We should have a better result in the lineouts this week. Scrums are likely to favour the...

Say It Ain't So!!! McCaw may be GONE...

Hope he plays and I hope he is fit. But......... it would be a huge advantage for the wallabies if he is less than 100% so I also hope he is managing some pain. As the Saffers saw with Brussow, it doesn't help he team if a player thinks he can contribute but in reality his injury is worse than...

RWC 2011 SF2: Australia vs. New Zealand

Mr Doug needs bright red slacks If we are to beat the the blacks Not too tight or he'll have to wax Looks like he was one of the backs Lets hope the sounds from eden park from kiwis all start with fark. Fark, four more years Fark, Fark, Fark

    Ask Bakkies!

Yes a good tough lock who gave no quarter. Formed a partnership with Matfield that has become the blueprint for second row selection. Did what enforcers do and pushed the boundaries a bit. Would have walked into virtually any Wallabies team in the last 10 years.

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Just to change tack on the thread, who's got a view on the gameplan? The team has been named with it's various strengths and weaknesses. It's knockout football. The opposition will have studied the Irish debacle and will adopt some of their successful tactics. Will we contest opposition...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

I can see the Bokke centres doing to McCabe what the Irish did. They held him up in the tackle and got some valuable turnovers. I would assume there has been some coaching done to ensure this doesn't happen again. Big call given that the Bokke backrow and the centres are as powerful as the Irish.
