Nicely done, my only quibble is the stripe across the back that seems a bit awkwardly placed. It's not visible here but shows up in other photos online.

It's damning that the response to Edmed playing NPC by Shute Shield clubs is to reflexively panic over their place in the rugby pecking order rather than evaluating ways to raise the standard of the Shute Shield comp. Rugby seems to be filled with this sort of provincialism even down to the...

The thing with building a competition around universities is that involving them might be more of a headache than it's worth. Many may not want a rugby team in the way that an American University has a D1 FBS football team. Most universities are currently aggressively shedding costs on the...

Cleary would be a world class 10 if he had spent most of the past years playing rugby instead of league. The physical gifts, intangibles, and work ethic are certainly there. But my gut feeling is that the subconscious "feel" you develop the manage the game as a league half will be a challenge...

Any idea what the motivation was to leave Souths?

Two coaches (one of them a recent RWC winner) wanting to jump ship on the eve of a tour screams that Borthwick learned the wrong lessons from his tenure as Eddie's protege. Forcing Felix Jones to stay and work remotely only reinforces my opinion. Why would you keep someone in the set-up who...

    Shute Shield 2025

You'd have to further professionalize the Shute Shield and Hospital Cup comps separately before any sort of national club comp would be a viable replacement for Super Rugby. Very few are well-equipped to fully take on the burden of S/C, rehab, nutrition, or development that the Super Rugby clubs...

    Shute Shield 2025

Yeah there was a massive crowd there to watch the AFL on tv and simultaneously a kid's birthday party on outside. Was encouraging to see amidst all the doom and gloom about rugby. Love that they've developed a revenue source that doesn't involve preying on the local gambling addicts.

    Shute Shield 2025

Recently played at Easts and was quite impressed by the facilities and food. I'm curious if the food and bev operation is self-sustaining, if it gets a little financial assistance from the rest of the club, or if it's revenue positive and pushes money back into the rest of the club. Was...

Not disagreeing with anything you said, but potentially aggravating the issue is our relative lack of size and dominant tackling. Conceding initial meters is fine if we're maintaining line integrity and credible at the ruck but we're not.

    Sydney Subbies 2025

A strong suburban comp with lots to offer socially forces premier clubs to do more than the bare minimum for anyone not in the Prem grade first 15. That sort of competition between different comps is good for rugby and for player development. Some QPR clubs up in Brisbane have certainly gotten...

Maybe that's our potential solution to not having an NRC? Shipping our players that are borderline talented enough to make a Super Rugby roster over to the MLR? Could also integrate more closely with New Zealand's NPC as a closer and better alternative?

Nick Turnbull is taking over Colts 1 at Uni after spending last year coaching 2G at Wests.

    QLD Colts 2024

Probably a combination of a poor win record considering the talent available, a few eyebrow-raising interactions, and a personality that was considered polarizing at best. Ask people around Uni for their opinion on him and you'll have your answer as to why he's not there anymore.
