    Sydney Subbies 2020

Still in disbelief at Subbies No crowds at finals. Why not introduce temperature checks and other risk mitigation measures like every other sport, business and pub has done and is doing as COVIDSafe life goes on. Where are sports administrators and leaders like Peter Vlandys when you need them.

My tipping has gone to shite. 5/9 Some good wake up calls for Newport at Iggies yesterday. A solid win for 1st grade with only 14 men for half a game sees them lead Iggies by 28 in CC. Briars vs Quin’s this w/e will decide 4th place in 1s and 2s.

Div 1 WAVES vs Knox - Waverley to keep Knobs from recording their first win of the season. Div 2 HH vs Robs: Hunters Hill to win with a bonus point. HILLS vs St pats: Crucial game for St Pats if they want semis footy but cannot see them getting over the big HILLs boys BOBS vs unsw: A must win...

Interesting how thorough some clubs have with CovidSafe plans in place. Forest do temperature checks and scan in before issuing a wrist ban which allows you access to their canteen/bar. Two security guards monitoring queues and general distancing. Goes to show it can be done safely without...

Iggies vs Breakers also to decide DIV 3 Club Championship. 1 vs 2 in all grades and 23c forecast promises to be an enormous day. Iggies do face a tough final away test against Beecroft who sit 3rd in every grade with their only loss coming at the hands of a Breakers clean sweep.

I’ll go and watch Shute Shield with 2000 or 3000 others in perfect safety because NSWRU says it poses no risk. But the questions remains why will Subbies not have crowds but other sports do? It’s a fair question that needs to be answered? If there isn’t an answer you can expect people to...

    Sydney Subbies 2020

The “but they don’t mean me” crowd have a very potent argument that there is no consistency in this decision and they will ignore it and attend what are essentially public parks. Subbies need to explain how a couple of hundred people attending a Subbies game with a full COVIDSafe plan in place...

Have it been confirmed that Shute Shield and the NRL are no longer allowing crowds to games or finals?

Subbies is playing on. Encouraging no crowds and players leave directly after their game. Will be easier said than done but I think risk mitigation strategies such as clubs encouraging the usage of masks is more likely.

From a subbies perspective it assumes players live in the suburbs they play for. Do you think Iggies players all live in Ryde. Or Colleagues don’t draw players from far up the north shore and inner west. As most things when bureaucracy gets involved, the policy never translates to the Reality.

It doesn’t as Life goes on. As per above unless they limit movement in society they cannot limit movement on a weekend sporting field. It makes zero difference.

Regional, zones and state championships is all aimed at school sport. There is nothing here that is new. If I can go to work and drive from the Blue Mountains to the CBD and then shop in Parramatta on the way home why couldn’t I drive 30 mins on a Saturday to play sport. Regions are...

Radford colts are worth x16 CC per point and Mosman have two teams in that comp Coming 1st and 2nd. They must win it every year with 7 grade and 3 colts teams across Divisions.

Nope, their 6th and 7th grades haven’t won a game.

Anyone know how Cowboy Cup works? Mosman are 842 on DIV 1 CC yet they are 1043 on Cowboy Cup ladder. Where does the 200 point boost come from? Being stubbies favourites?

Your making the lower DIvs sound like the Wild West.

First things first the club championships will be decided on Saturday week. Top of the table clash in all 4 grades in what promises to be a huge day. Such a shame this is an away game as they’d get 2000 at Porters for this one. That said Iggies better prepare the BBQ and Bar as I’d expect...

Div1 Petersham vs COLLEAGUES: After being pipped on the bell by Mosman will go with Colleagues to continue the Shammies season of pain. MOSMAN vs Forest: The Whales to have a field day against the green ferals. The whales can expect a big Forest crowd to make the trek across the Spit to see...
