    ISA 2024

If a proposal like this is to proceed I'd imagine depth would be the primary driver, as that is also a general indicator for quality. Barker would be the outlier in Opens, quality there but little depth or quality in juniors.

    CAS Rugby 2024

The challenge for Barker to consistently get the quality pre season games is to build the depth in their program. It's not just about the 1st XV but getting the E's a game as well. Kinross and Stannies (as an example) generally partner well when playing against one of the larger programs...

Proud of the Kings boys today. Clung on in the first half and worked their way into the game. I felt were the stronger team in the second half and took their chances well. Managed the conditions better. Kings forwards won the set piece and was even at the breakdown. Handling in backs was...

The wetter the better for Kings, especially against Joeys

Agree but the reality is private schools prep rugby quality is low. I’d take the Gordon and Norths juniors any day of the week. Kings fed by Parramatta and Eastwood of whom very few find their way (directly ;)) to Kings.

Kings has 1400 in the high school, Tudor house and prep numbers included in the data above. I’d also consider Kings has the most diverse cultural background of students across the gps, not concentrated like most. Not all big rugby playing country bumpkins. Nearly 100 more kids play soccer than...

    CAS Rugby 2024

Curious question. Showing my age but Cranbrook were one of the stronger schools in Australian rugby in the 80s. While always more academic/culturally aligned than their friends up the hill why have they dropped off so much in rugby? I know cricket remains strong but interested to understand why...

This comes up semi regularly. Gen Blue have already excluded contracted players. I don’t agree with this practice as you are pushing kids away, and they are just kids. If they’re filling a development spot, that’s life. I’d expect most kids on this list to end up in league, regardless of school.

Perhaps Waverley and Knox would be interested in moving to ISA? ;) If Barker invested in their juniors throw them a boat as well

Congrats to the collective ISA schools this weekend, some nice scalps. Long may it continue. Good to see the boys in royal blue get a few wins particularly!

Always been impressed with Augs junior program, along with Oakhill, Waverley and Joeys the best in NSW for 13s and 14s. I wouldn’t disparage ISA though, they’ve given CAS a good workout this weekend. Talent pool in each of the competitions is stretched, ISA does well to stay competitive in the...

Bookies would love the mug punters on this site. One pre season surprise does not a season make.

Don't think they've announced captain of rugby as yet however Charlie Baker has been on field captain for the games. Great kid who I expect to get the nod

As a Kings supporter I've been impressed with their form coming from a relatively low base after the highs of last year. I think the coaches have made this a development year with a lot of year 11's and 10's in the Opens squad - probably on par with their year 12 peers in some instances but more...

lol as soon as I say that. Waverley midfield scrum, their backs run around Kings to score in corner. Exactly what New did last week. Kings backs defence off scrums a work in progress. FT 38-24 or thereabouts

Waverley 12 yellow (their best player). Kings have run in a few more think about 38-19. Forwards definitely Kings strength, limiting opponents backs chance to attack through backs
