    Queensland Reds 2024

Squad update from Les Kiss for the Wales and Tonga games: Cormac Daly out until Saitama games, Kalani Thomas out for 12-14 weeks away (foot surgery), Taj Annan out for 6 weeks (syndesmosis) and Suli Vinivalu out for 6 weeks (MCL). Looking closely at Hospital's cup for call ups, will probably...

Up by 7 at half time against England we were a concussion to Fardy away from a grand slam :(

    Ballymore Redevelopment

Not sure they have a leg to stand on either way as far as the Olympics are concerned - the precinct at Perry Park is not large enough to meet Olympic requirements for hockey - two competition pitches with seating (10k and 5k) and a warm up pitch. There are likely alternatives to having it all in...

    Waratahs 2025

I don't think New Zealand Rugby would allow it. It's easy enough to work a couple of one off contracts every year, but I can't see New Zealand being happy with a bunch of Australian players flooding what is essentially their development competition and taking up spaces. I definitely think they'd...

2024 Under 20 Rugby Champs all match discussion thread

I think the issue our front row have at this level is the geographically distributed nature of the players at an age group level. There are usually a few props in each state that stand out and dominate their local scene, with the challenge only coming through when they play interstate. Covid...

    Wallabies 2024

I'd expect plan a would be to sub Valetini and get a dynamic ~20 minutes from a ball carrying 8 - we have quiet a few guys who can play that role off the bench but aren't ready to do it for 80 - Leota, Cale and Gleeson all fit that bill in different ways. There's still a bit of flex there...

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

Good pick up for the Brumbies. I haven't always rated him as as super rugby player in the past, but mostly because he was playing super rugby before he was ready. He has a lot of potential and looked to take a step forward with the Rebels this year, hopefully he'll develop well in Canberra.

Wright has been the best on field captain for any of the Australian super sides for a long time this year, his referee management is excellent. As far as his place in the side goes I think he's absolutely earned a spot, whether or not he's the best available 6 comes down to the style we're...

    Ballymore Redevelopment

It's closer to 2km though, about the same distance as Wilston is currently and the goal of pedestrian improvements is to bring that down or improve the quality of it. It's also a very good spot for a high frequency bus link on event days. There are long term arguments about Wilston station...

No just took a year off to study at Oxford: https://wallabies.rugby/news/robertson-resigns-but-is-off-to-oxford-university-in-2024-2023529 After an ACL injury the time off probably did him well from a longevity perspective.

    Ballymore Redevelopment

Part of the benefit of Exhibition is the precinct panned around it - it's near enough to support entertainment pre and post game with improved bus links to support stadium access. Exhibition also opens up easier access from more of Brisbane. I believe there are also general plans around...

    Ballymore Redevelopment

With the rise in Women's sports Brisbane is probably going to need 2 15-20k seaters in the next decade or two, but the answer there is Ballymore first and then look to the second one as the demand builds. There are also upgrades happening to the public transport network around the olympics and...

    Wallabies 2024

Tom Robertson is back in Australia after his sabbatical at Oxford. Not sure on where his conditioning will be at, but given our prop stocks at the moment I wouldn't be surprised to see him come into calculations around the Rugby Championship.

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

Yeah, that has been rumoured for a while now. Given he only had a contract for 2024 it'd make sense for him to have sorted something out quickly. He doesn't have the luxury of an RA guaranteed contract for 2025.

Walton confirmed, Feliuai has left the squad for personal reasons: No mention of Ikitau, Smith or Wilson though.

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

I believe there were 11 players the tahs wanted, and the majority of them said no. Whether or not the tahs look at the rest of the squad might depend on who they otherwise get.

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Not sure you can make that jump without a reason given for Smith's departure - could be injury or personal issues that meant he had to withdraw himself. Might have to wait and see until there's an official update.
