    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I doubt many Victorian rugby kids dream of playing for the Waratahs... But I think it's clearly evident that the existence of the Rebels and their associated pathways led to the production of significantly more professional rugby players in the state.

    Wallabies 2024

Rodda has had a pretty bad run of injuries, so can't blame him to go join a French D2 team that looks set to be promoted to the Top 14... Where's he off to again? Provence? Who cares about Lions tours and World Cups and just the general shit show of Australian rugby when you could be living...

I would consider him if he was staying, but apparently Schmidt is not going to include him...

    Waratahs 2025

Hooper signed with the Tahs months before Pocock signed on with the Brumbies... He left because Jake White was initially looking for a bigger body at 7. Brumbies' fans rated Hooper very highly - he had an enormous year in 2012 that fast tracked him into the Wallabies.

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

He was apparently not included in the Waratahs' training contingent, so I'd say he's not in contention despite having IMO his best year.

Yeah, while Brazil are certainly up there the last five FIFA WC winners have been Argentina, France, Germany, Spain and Italy...

Oh, most definitely... And that's where the problem with rugby's state club comps lie - unlike, the NRL and AFL, or rather their earlier incarnations as NSWRL and VFL respectively, they've never had any reach outside of their borders.

Shute Shield GF may have been shown on the ABC, but I honestly can't remember... Also, it's a comp that was, and really still is, only followed in a narrow demographic of Sydney.

Personally speaking... Living in Canberra, the NRL back then, particularly because of the Raiders, was a big deal... Although I didn't follow it, the AFL did have a reasonable local following and with their one FTA match per week I was familiar with the teams and some of the star players of...

It's true (against an NZ team), although not a huge sample size... and many of those results are not surprising.

Muirhead is a good Super Rugby player, but Ryan, in his first season, over the course of a month or so has shown to be a much better prospect...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Super Rugby was clearly once a very good and successful comp... One major issue was not establishing an independent commission to run it a long time ago, and it's been hampered by the self interests of certain unions. Prior to Covid, back in the awful time of Foxtel and a Japanese team in a...
