I'd love Rennie to opt for two experienced guys like Bernard Foley and Kurtley Beale.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Derp I think what Dan is trying to say is if we played in Australia first, both teams would travel to NZ at the same time and thus be subject to the same quarantine rules.

Yeah that's fair, I usually like what he does. I'm trying to play the ball not the man in this instance.

    Wallabies 2020

This is genuinely one of the dumbest articles I've read in a long time. So Bishop posits that White should be captain. His evidence for such a claim: 1. We've had good halfback captains in the past. 2. Halfback is well suited to captaincy as a position. 3. There was a huddle in the Perth...

    Wallabies 2020

Oh it's very real. Even when a player is in fact playing for the Brumbies (as Hooper was when he made his debut in 2012 and started ahead of Gill), the selectors can still see past the jersey and to the player underneath, and where that player was born and raised. It's why Cheika always liked...

    Wallabies 2020

Well the problem in 2011 wasn't that we had no backup 7 in the 23, it was that we had no backup 7 in the whole squad.......

    Wallabies 2020

I've been impressed with the leadership role To'omua has taken this season, on the field but especially off it. He's proposed a number of rule variations, seems to be vocal about the future of the competition, and is clearly thoughtful and articulate. I actually think he's the frontrunner at...

    Wallabies 2020

As much as we can highlight past mistakes, it matters little at the 2020 selection table. White's 2019 form was outstanding, especially given Cheika's constant switching in both the 9 and 10 position. If he can produce that form then he's in the 23. As much as I like Powell, I'm just not...

I'm still scarred from the third test against Ireland where Powell played 10 minutes and threw at least three shocking passes that you could argue cost us the game.

    Wallabies 2020

I believe this comment was made on the Wallabies 2019 thread. And the 2018 thread. And the 2017 thread. And 2016, 2015........ Which is not to say it isn't accurate, but I'd also add this won't be the world beating AB team of the past either. I reckon if we play four matches it might end 3-1...

Super Rugby Au Round 8 - Force vs Reds @ Cbus Stadium, 7:05pm Friday 21st August

Well given Tupou's run of form I think his replacement only comes on if he's injured or they are up/down 30. But your point is valid nonetheless.

Super Rugby Au Round 8 - Force vs Reds @ Cbus Stadium, 7:05pm Friday 21st August

I've got Reds by 25 in this one. Wonder if the time away from home is starting to sap the Force, and losing Stowers in a big blow. After last week I think the Reds hit their stride and run away with this in the second half.

    Wallabies 2020

I imagine those stats come off relatively low overall numbers though. As time goes on I've become far less enamoured with tackle % as a metric, especially for backs. For wingers surely a lot would depend on the defensive system employed, and where they stand in the line (if they are even in...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

From memory there was drain but the vast majority were players who had 'done their time' and were seeking a few years sipping red wine in the south of France. Certainly not guys in the prime of their Wallaby careers like McMahon.

Also worth remembering TK isn't the incumbent. Did he even start any tests last year? Seemed to remember we kept JOC (James O'Connor) at 13 for most of the season, bar a few minnow RWC games.

Gordon's instincts are great, it's no fluke he's scoring tries. He follows the play well and has amazing timing on his support runs. An underrated asset.

    Wallabies 2020

This is where we disagree BR. To my eyes, Deegan is a decent enough Super player but does not yet scream 'Wallaby 10'. He's started in three (?) games for the Rebels, with mixed success. He's played a bit of GRR and NRC, but his pedigree hardly fills me with confidence when we're taking on...

Super Rugby AU Round 7 - Force vs Waratahs @ Robina - Friday 14 August

BH I had more issue with the Gordon offside. It just felt like the TMO was viewing the play with the aim of finding a law breach, like a miner looking for a gold nugget. Gordon took two steps at most before Hunt ran him onside. Had he not made those steps I'd wager he is still in a position to...
