a week in vancouver. training session over in Victoria. hit a canucks game. promote the game in north america great idea on the back of Vancouver's push to secure a leg of the IRB sevens (see rugbycanada.ca) has the backing of the Vancouver city, BC government and CAnadian government.

the game would get plenty of coverage in the USA. play a 2nd XV forward pack and most of the starting backs and it would be a good contest.

that is very impressive i think the wallabies should follow suit and find a suitable match sponsor (macquarie is present and large in both countries and sponsors canada in rugby already) and play a game in Vancouver at B.C place. between vancouver, victoria and calgary fans as well as the large...

    Rebels 2015

No he is that bad a player at least at the moment. He could get better. In my mind he is the perfect example of someone who needed the tier between club and pro and yes ITM would've been great. But he and players like him will benefit from the NRC immensely in years to come. That said happy we...

you can see the play in question on rugbydump.com . it's definitely not a red card and honestly i don't think it's a penalty at all. it's unfortunate that sinclair caught the ball around his ankles and began to upright himself to try and bash through the tackle by a fellow in jackson who is only...

Canada lost 19-17 in front of 19,000 fans Canada had a penalty within the 22 with 4 minutes remaining - then it Got Reversed and jebb Sinclair was given a red card! Not sure what happened but we would've won the game but for that.

Wallabies v France - June 14 Etihad Stadium

Absolutely horrible live. Etihad is woeful. I had the best seats in the house. Medallion club aisle 21 row b. Useless. Can't see shit. Get the games to AAMI. England included. I would happily pay $20 more for a game at AAMI.

Wallabies v France - June 14 Etihad Stadium

I agree but this was a horrible spectacle. I took 4 mates into the medallion club and at half time I had to convince them all to come Back and not watch the afl - And they are all open to rugby. It was just horrible. Issy kicked shockingly. Foley didn't provide much at all and we reverted to...

i'm well aware people move for more than just money, but the dollar figures help provide context as to what they have to match - whether that is through salary, sponsorships or other. i think there is a dose of reality here in that if he's offered - let's say it's $1.5M which i reckon is...

not to mention they get him to the sydney stars and that adds a few bucks in his pocket for promoting them and maybe playing 15 minutes of a game off the bench.

based on my calcs if toulon is offering issy say $3m, 900k of that is tax exempt as image rights, the remainder is subject to normal tax. plugging the current rates in leaves you with circa $1.7M after tax in france. so for the ARU to match that, they need to basically pay him $3M as well...

Agreed. Read someone's response to my suggesting transfer fees earlier in this thread to end that one.

Unless someone can quote me the legislation or something more than heresay that says rugby players are entertainers in France and subject to 10% tax I am calling bullshit and people are either making things up it misreading the tax code. My understanding is that up to 30% of a players salary...

Biarritz is relegated to pro d2 and has an 11.4m budget. Granted french squads are larger but the end result is more money per player. As I said before, a lot Of the French rugby towns are not all they are made out to be. A good mate played in montauban when they were top 14 and while he...

there is too much money in france and barring a massive tv windfall for the ARU, they won't be able to compete. players can now make more in europe and japan than they can if they stay here and star for the wallabies. as noted elsewhere, folau could get $2m, genia, cooper, the same with guys...
