    U16 schoolboy rugby

Well, it looks like ISA. It should be a great game. CAS looked gutted after the loss to GPS 2. Their big fellas looked like they started to tire and the fitness of the GPS 2s got them over the line...just.

    ISA 2024

ISA Black U16s had a great hitout today to see them play GPS President A in the Shield Final tomorrow.

We are expecting dry conditions tomorrow, but cold and wet on Sunday. The boys have had plenty of matches in those cold/wet conditions with their schools. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

    U16 schoolboy rugby

Looking forward to this weekend's NSW Schools U16 Championships. Any predictions for the winner of the Shield Final? After watching the opens, if ISA and CCC have depth into the U16s they could shake things up.

Make that 4 of them. Liam Sidwell was in the 2023 AICES team.

The school always had an academic direction. The school only has so many places and competition for those places is fierce. The changing demographic of Sydney has the top academic performers not necessarily having a preference for the "traditional" school sports. Couple that with competition...

Don't forget about the U16s coming through. There is some talent there as well. I would expect to see some of those boys in 1s and 2s in 2025.

Not just this. There are many boys who come into their own later in life, whether it be colts or grade. We are not here to discourage them. I would hate for a comment on this forum to discourage a young up and comer to quit the sport.

I'd prefer to see a scrum that has size enough to hold ground and an impeccable lineout, than one that could lose a lineout whilst attacking.

Same touchy who marked out the lineout about 5 metres further upfield from where the ball went out after a Shore penalty for their throw in?

Everyone wants your spot. Rest on your laurels and you'll be eaten alive at this level.

It would be a pity if the New boys don't get up there to support their opens. If the weather is as foul as it looks like it's going to be, they will struggle to keep the 16s around, seeing as they're playing first thing in the morning.
