I don't think it's so much that refs are above criticism in general but more which refs your criticism is aimed at.
Your original post was specifically having a crack at lower grades referees and saying how bad it is. Like mate, no shit, reffing those games in general is always going to be tougher and you're always going to have less experienced refs.
You make reference to players, coaches and volunteers (not sure why included?) being held to account - but no one on these forums is really calling for the coach of a 4th grade side to be better.
Querying or questioning ref decisions (within reason) is valid at the top end of town where they get paid big bucks. But I don't think the refs having a crack at 9am in the morning to ref 5th grade need to be called out.
Players pay nearly $500 per season and at the top end are required to do the same thing with regards to clips, self review and feedback etcFurther to this, the even the "top end of town" in QPR earn a whopping total of $100 for a 1st grade game to cover their pre-match work, the game, a self-review, a review with their referee coach, and responding to any clips from the player coaches post game. It's still mostly for the love of the game.
And how often do 3rd grade reserve props get called out that they need to be dropped, or be threatened that clips will be sent to their coach, or have their integrity questioned, or be abused during a game? That's why there's a difference.Players pay nearly $500 per season and at the top end are required to do the same thing with regards to clips, self review and feedback etc
I know you're specifically responding to the previous post but I think this is getting away from the point. Fair critique of referees is ok, but there is a way to do it respectfully, with nuance, empathy and good intent. Paying any amount of money doesn't mean you get to act like a flog on the internet (again not targeted at you specifically).Players pay nearly $500 per season and at the top end are required to do the same thing with regards to clips, self review and feedback etc

Seru & Vest are both named in the Souths team for tomorrow.Apparently the squad flying to Tonga leave on Tuesday does that mean that they can’t play this weekend?
Interesting. Seru left Easts, reportedly to go to Souths, and wound up at Wests. Is he back at Souths now?Seru & Vest are both named in the Souths team for tomorrow.
Yes he has played two or three games for Souths already this year.Interesting. Seru left Easts, reportedly to go to Souths, and wound up at Wests. Is he back at Souths now?

It's the 3rd or 4th time this season I think. Pro duties dictate. The canteen money must have cleared to get Vest and Uru on the park at the same time!
So are Easts.Just seen Brothers are advertising for a new General Manager.
Both only lasted a season if I’m not mistaken? So are Easts.
