Waratahs 2025

Blues by a couple of tries, set up by a strong first half lead.
Not sure about our bench 5/8. Bowen offers little (not sure what his strength is running/passing etc) and thought Creighton had his best game at Fullback.

Apparently, the Brumbies have an offer on the table for Edmed but the Tahs dont. Meredith will be slightly pissed off I would say after some solid displays this year and a better passing game.
Mckellar seems to be leaning towards Bowen as the long term 5/8. Not sure he is the man, he is still young but he often panics and takes the kick option far too quickly when a settling run would be better (one thing that Lolesio has learned) and is more of a distributer than an attacking runner, making him an easy read in defence. Wilson looks to be the goods at Halfback, so hopefully their combo builds.

Haven't seen enough to make a call. He has been put on in garbage time of games when it's been decided, heap of changes and the Tahs a good chance of fading quick.

Coaching group and GM still moulding the squad they want and Edmed was given first crack at it but if he's not in favour then so be it. If we took away that ITM Cup form at the back end of last year I think almost everyone felt it wasn't going anywhere but once again we buy in and here we are.

Meredith may not like it but it's good business for a pro rugby side. He has every chance to win the 10 jersey next year over Edmed. Don't think there would be a heap of offers competing so not like it's the marquee guy coming to town. Quite similar tbh. Good athletes with a decent skill set.

Edmed to the Brumbies looking more and more likely:

I know plenty of tahs fans won't be happy about it, but I think it's the right move for Edmed, and probably the right one for the tahs - they need a consistent reliable 10 and Edmed needs game time in a settled side.

Talk is they're looking overseas for an experienced option to round out their ranks, they could do a lot worse than O'Connor to help bring Creighton, Bowen and Fowler through.

Doesn't bother me at all. Good luck to him. I reckon a change is good for his footy.

Bowen, Fowler x 2 are prospects worth figuring out and playing. Creighton is a known quantity now at 26 and worth it for the cover and sound head. JOC (James O'Connor) not a bad option but Will Harrison feels like the guy I'd love to see get another crack after being stuffed by injury.

Not sure the length of Harrison's contract in Japan, but it'll definitely be longer than a year so he won't be available until 2027or 2028. Arguably another reason to grab someone like O'Connor for a one year stint (assuming Harrison is interested in returning).

I like Tane but in terms of contracting, he and Creighton are pretty similar and Creighton signed a two year deal so is already on the books for 2026.

Bowen needs to be kept as he still potentially has more upside than Edmed/Creighton and then Fowler coming through behind them.

Edmed's situation really puts a nail through the credibility of the NPC as a competition
Highlight reels are misleading. He didnt lead his team into the finals and generally the clips we saw were against the bottom teams who leaked 40 points per game.
He is still living off the Crusaders game at Leichardt. He is not without talent but good luck to him at the Brumbies, time to move on for the Tahs.

I think this is a bit harsh.

He's fine, he's just not elite.

If the situation was reversed and he was already contracted for 2026 and Creighton was off contract I'd be letting Creighton walk. They're much of a muchness for me.

Longer term we need better.
