How much of an improvement does Caslick and 1-2 Levi's mean for the Wallaroos? I mean, it's got to be something.

I'd say they are worth 10-12 point swing a game.

To have any real impact though they need a couple forwards. If you could add Grace Kemp and a couple others I think you become competitive with the upper sides.

Super W draw is out:

Big step forward for the comp this year with a crossover game to be played against the Super Aupiki champions. Penina Pasifika also coming in to play development games against each team during their bye week

Will be great for the sport, but the wallaroos strength is already the outside backs, would be great to find a few forwards to take on the English up front. A few of the womens playing State of Origin would make the wallaroos a powerhouse team.
Anyone know a billionaire willing to pay 20 women $60k per year to play 6 games of state footy?

Recent* Black Fern Grace Brooker the latest to switch codes. To AFL of all things.

* she's 25 & might well come back to rugby so I think "former" is premature.

Black Ferns 7's players Risi Pouri-Lane, Jorja Miller, Stacey Waaka, Theresa Setefano, Kelsey Teneti, Dhys Faleafaga & Alena Saili have made themselves available for the XV's World Cup but not Sarah Hirini

Great news and hopefully a sign across the women's international landscape that currently the best athletes need to be playing all forms to improve quality.
The WRWC will certainly be better with NZ/Aus/Canada blending in the Sevens players.

From a Black Ferns POV the added strength will be in the midfield and 9 positions. I would love to see a Miller/Waaka 12/13 combo. Miller may have previously been a loose forward in 15s but the BFs are well served there and size is required against the likes of England.
Pouri-Lane being looked at as a halfback which could be a huge improvement from the current.

They're obviously very early into their XVs stint but you'd have to say that a marked improvement from the introduction of these players is probably wishful thinking.

In many ways I think it shows how much our XVs players have improved in the last few years.

Reds getting so many of them pop in as well is change to the side and learning each others way of playing. Takes time but it was nice to the NSW side step up to it.

Reds look better than the side that came last in 2024

Midway through Super Rugby Aupiki:

1. Blues 14 points
2. Matatu (combined South Island) 9
3. Chiefs 7
4. Hurricanes 0

Results & remaining fixtures here:

Barring a string of upsets it'll be a Matatu v Chiefs playoff to see who plays Blues in the Final.

Was interested to hear Rikki Swannell talking on Breakdown other day WOB. She says in discussion on how women's rugby in NZ etc are not paid a lot. They are actually best paid on world stage. Even the Poms etc are almost all working outside rugby, they just play a lot of club rugby etc. And the girls in Aupiki are getting more than they do at NRLW. Was interesting to hear, she's pretty well up with most info.
And as an aside, I would add a bloody good commentator of rugby that girl.

Was a good segment (assume you mean the one on The Breakdown.
The problem isn't necessarily pay it is games and structure.
In Aupiki the season is so short that it is "pay to train" for most squad members. The lack of actual match play is glaringly obvious when you watch games and witness decision making under pressure. The skills are there in many but application of those skills can be shocking.
The players with a desire to improve are desperately searching for gametime whether at NRLW, Japan, Sevens....
Also I think Sevens may get a shake up if this mess that WR (World Rugby) have made of the game continues. Only seven tournaments, no WC and big gaps in the calendar probably mean that less full-time contracts are needed. There are always 4-5 players just being paid to train as emergencies.
