Queensland Reds 2025

Just to be clear, you would prefer one of Fraser, Liam, Tate or Harry to compromise getting ready and prepared for the campaign over a senior leader in JTA (Jeffery Toomaga-Allen) to step in their place?

More visibility and marketability will come from the Reds playing the UK teams than this picture that will be on the 4th back page of the Courier Mail tomorrow
Lol. That's a JTA (Jeffery Toomaga-Allen) sized strawman you've made out of my comment!

In fact I would say that's a big negative from this UK trip, is that they're removed from easy media access for the 2-3 week period leading into the season start..

You don't think a trial that wasn't streamed at all, and one that is going to cost $15 PPV on a strange Irish website is going to attract some media?

Hang on... did the reds thread just fall into Chaos".. and I am a bystander, just decide that they couldn't have a red's player as media front and centre because, old mate not only played for Wasp, also Ulster.. but then if you go to the Reds squad page

Chaos

I shipped myself off a decade ago so don't have my finger on the pulse like I used to back home.

I'm keen to hear people's thoughts on some of the younger and newer guys coming through. Blokes like Goldsbrough, Gibbs, King, McCulloch. I've seen a fair bit of Brial who i think has the makings of a very good player. Same with Bryant.

Goldsbrough looks the real deal physically and the Reds hopefully have a long term Centre in the Club and not a Magnay repeat.

Gibbs is an interesting signing. Let Creighton go but then sign a similar player. Can imagine Creighton wanted the chance to continue the career and Gibbs was itching for any opportunity in a pro environment. Would be 25 or so.

I think they said Creighton was offered a contract at the Reds, but thought more opportunity for game time existed in NSW, can't remember specifically but I think his decision to leave was before JOC (James O'Connor) & Annan announced they were going so maybe a few sliding door moments there.

Tricky. Reds have clearly decided Lynagh is the guy for now with HMP seemingly hgih;y regarded so I can understand his feelings but he's 1 injury or dropping away from the 23.

Wonder how DM sees him in regards to Bowen at NSW. He's probably more ready/trusted to start right now as he's a known quantity but he's also just that a known quantity and it's not necessarily as an elite 10 but a serviceable guy.

Not sure this exactly what you are chasing, but I think it’s noteworthy-
Trevor King is a Gladstone boy. About 8-9 yes ago former Samoan international Onehunga Mata’uiau set up a business coaching rugby in CQ. There are plenty of similiar business around now but it seemed much more unique at the time. Trevor was part of one of the earlier squads. Others over the years include Theo Fourie, Liam Fletcher, Noah & Eli Rauluni.
Trevor completed his secondary school at Downlands and I know he’s been plying his trade at South’s (I believe One was involved in directing him there) but I believe he is a great example of the value of quality coaching from a young age.
I can’t shed too much light on his prospects from here - I watched a lot of his junior rep games last year and seems pretty good to me but there is plenty of competition. I do know a number of people who know him very well personally and I’ve never heard anything but good things about his attitude, work ethic and personality.

Ulster have named a fairly strong team for the game against the Reds, but 16 players on the bench, so looks like it will be going by "friendly" rules. Probably a good opportunity for the whole Reds squad to get on the field

They've also just sacked their defense coach Johnny Bell after losing to Zebre last game.

Isaac Henry on track to return in the ‘early rounds’ as well.. spent 19 of the last 24 months in rehab.. some good competition hopefully between Paisami, Flook, Pakeho and Henry.

good read;

Yep he is the one I've heard the most about. Hopefully he pushes on, Reds could use a bit more size in that backline
