That's right (approx 10 minutes more per game, not a huge amount)... quite a few other factors involved too...
But as I've said, that when it comes to pilfers the data suggests they're pretty equal in this regard... maybe Gill slightly better?
It should also be noted that we don't have stats for attempted pilfers that have led to penalties for holding on...
Anyways, I think you're being awfully precious about this...
I was simply highlighting the fact that Gill, while excellent at pilfering, is pretty limited in his abilities at this stage...
I wouldn't exactly call him a one trick pony but he doesn't offer anything in terms of ball carries, linking etc.
He's obviously also penalised more than Hooper (quite considerably more) and Pocock because he quite often goes for the pilfer when maybe he shouldn't...
These other elements he'll develop and maybe he'll wind up being #1? Who knows...
But thankfully we've got Pocock and Hooper for the test squad at this stage while Gill can go and lead the Junior team admirably and then come into the test squad later on...
We're blessed for 7's...

In terms of penalties conceded the stats are:
Pocock 15
Gill 6
Hooper 3
And pilfers after Gill's "extra game" (that has him on less minutes than hooper) are:
Gill 15
Hooper 9
Pocock 8
As you said though, those stats don't tell the whole story as they don't include penalties won etc.
I wouldn't have a problem with either of Hooper or Gill being selected - I think they have both been dominant, match-turning players against quality opposition. Great battle.

I love debating about the value of good No7s. The funny thing is if we arent comparing internally then we are comparing internationally.
Whilst I love the old pilfer these days this isnt the most important aspect of the No7. Yes it creates a turnover opportunity and to use the basketball phrase the opportunity for a "Fast Break for the easy lay-up" which has been a trademark of the All Blacks in the Richie McCaw era.
The best aspect of the No7 is legally slowing the ball down to allow your defensive line to regroup and set up for the next phase without commiting huge numbers to the breakdown.
In this respect Gill has reigned supreme over the other noted 7s in the Aust Conference. This is as much a function of his talent as much of the system being used at the Reds. We have all noted the consistent low chop tackle over the Reds revival in the last few years.
As a result of the system differences between the teams no one is going to win this debate over who is better.
IMO 7s primary role is for defence and No8 is for attack and is best suited for linking with the backs. This then leaves the 6 to determine your philosophy of an attacking mindset or defensive mindset.

Which team has the best 7 is always a fantastic 'pissing contest' and Gill vs Hooper will run for a long time. As a Pom, all I can say is, Lucky Bastards! And I mean it with the greatest of respect. As a Reds fan, I'm just going to enjoy watching the likes of Gill, Schatz and Quirk over the coming years. All of whom are making real progress. It might be my imagination but since Schatz has dropped the head gear, he has stepped up to another level again. I thought he was developing well anyway but it feels like dropping the head gear is akin to rolling your sleeves up and saying "I'm ready to rumble". Link and his team are managing the development of this young group of bank rowers exceptionally well.

This is just rubbish... He is an excellent ball carry in close, and has great technique, he is also very skillful as seen in his 7s career so I can't see 'linking' being an issue..

You obviously never watched him play 7's. He has a great linking game, a deft step off the right foot and is strong in the hit ups.
He has just as much claim to be Pocock back up as Hooper does. Both great young players, and there is literally nothing between them.
The only one being precious here is you for lambasting all and sundry for even suggesting that another flanker is as good or better than your teams flanker.
I hope you enjoy the last few round of the super rugby before you turn on hooper and start making the case for colby Fainga'a to be the wallaby 7.

great to see the James fire up.
Finally the Reds have stopped wondering when the Ref was going to deal with the Infringing etc and decide to deal with it themselves.
Saw James get up the 'boys' and they all lifted and played rugby making their own luck instead of 'expecting' it to happen for them.
Hope they carry it into the next game.

Loig fans tend to get feral...
However I usually sit amongst members for Brumbies games and it's a very laid bak affair... Similar to NSW games...
For rabid Fanbases the AFL is the way to go...

The simple facts pointed out in the GAGR article support what I have being saying all along..
If you feel it necessary to troll, that's fine.. Their is no need to be patronizing to other members or completely obnoxious when it comes to forming an opinion of players from other provinces... To say Gill offers "nothing" in the ball running or linking department is a very biased opinion.
No one baited you here, you brought the topic of Hooper into a Reds forum, I suggest you look at your own form.
