I posted something similar in Reds thread that Fox Sports published.

I mean technically none of that information is incorrect - but it's sensationalist to infer he's a genuine NRL dropout/failure.

JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) is over there. They will call on him if there is an injury no doubt. How they are backing Edmed over Donaldson is what I don't understand. Blooding Lynagh with the pressure of the Lions series has set him back and the decision has been made now to bring in a new answer. Faster than a speeding mullet... it's the one game NRL man and former Wallaby... Carter Gordon! Wishing the Wallabies luck for the tour. Hopefully they play well .
Lynagh been left behind because his injured

Maybe. Having dodgy hammies so young and prone to head knocks though is not good for his longevity. Still don't think he'll last the distance. Rushed into Test footy way too early.
You're assuming it was dodgy hamstrings that have kept him out, it could just as easily be frustrations from repeated head knocks and after taking guidance, the Reds and RA are of the opinion Tom would be best getting a full off-season.

Donaldson is one flight away from getting to the UK so not the end of the world.

My hot take...

Gordon to fill in at inside centre?

Edit: looking at that squad, probably not...

Maybe not so hot...

With a 95kg and 193cm frame, Gordon is also being considered as a potential No.12 in the mould of Jordie Barrett. He can also play fullback.

What’s the injury?
They didnt say.. just got this

“We’ve taken a long-term view with Tom Lynagh, who is still just 22 years old. He has had a few injury frustrations since the third test versus the Lions in early August and will follow an individualised program, guided by both Wallabies and Queensland staff, which will allow him to recover to full fitness.

probably hammies and head

Donaldson needs to use the disappointment to enjoy a break and start the Super rugby season like this year... and keep it going all season. Carter and him will be the 10's for the RWC barring injury is my tip. Eddie just callled it 4 years too early!
I don’t think Super Rugby form really matters as one of the guys picked ahead of him got dropped for most of the season and the other guy standing on the sidelines of a different sport

So much for the Peter Horne and Joe Schmidt catch cry of the last 18 months “we want to invest in people that invest in us”

Not really…

He signed with the NRL, Schmidt didn’t pick him and he got an early release…

He signs a three year deal with RA, and he gets selected.
RA is required to pay 100k just to get him out of his contract because he didn’t want to play league anymore, a year after not wanting to play rugby anymore

Picking him on the back of zero rugby games and 2 league games in 2 years is a bit of a slap on the face to guys like Donaldson that have actually been contributing to Australian rugby

Is Gordon actually going to see this contract out, or take his ball and go home when things don’t go great?

Les Kiss has confirmed it's hamstring problems.

It's great you've been given a new target to whinge at. Looking forward to pages of it over the next 6 weeks.

Employee gets fucked over by employer, moves to new employer in adjacent industry, realises he doesn't love it, so returns to previous employer now that they've made sweeping changes in decision makers.

Tale as old as time, really.
