Queensland Reds 2026

Red Runner

Nason looked out of his depth playing premier grade earlier this year. He shouldn't be anywhere near a QLD side.

Upthemaroon!

With all the failed HIA's Lynagh had this season, could the Reds start talking to CG? It seems that when Mason retired he really talked up his (short) time at the Reds. Would that be an option if Lynagh has to medically retire?

He’s got a full titans contract for 2026 and made his debut with them last night.

I would say he is in their immediate plans for next season so wouldn’t jump back into rugby until 2027. I’d also be hesitant to replace a concussion magnet with a bloke who is one back injury away from medical retirement himself.

Uh huh

I think the Reds and Brumbies should be pencilling in 2 wins v the Tahs & Force. Tahs and Force will split it H/A but the good (potential top 4) sides should put those away. Reds v Brums will go the home side.

Basically a repeat of last year besides the Tahs knocking off the Brums at home.
The last time the Brumbies lost in Brisbane they had Rod Iona at flyhalf, which feels like a lifetime ago. I do think next year will be the Reds' best chance in ages though, with the Brumbies having lost four of their five best players.

The bad news for the Reds is it'll be right towards the end of the season though, so Meredith, McLeod and the other replacements will have had time to settle in.

Hopefully Flooky can get on whatever Mortlock used when he transformed from a winger to an OC! We need Flooks ability to read a game.

Even when he was getting picked on the wing, Mortlock was an absolute tackle-busting beast. He was just made entirely out of knees, I don't think you can teach that.

Brums also feel like they need a backup Centre/Wing who has Super Rugby experience. A lot to like about some of the young guys like Jarrah but they could be 2 injuries from a very inexperienced backline.

With Lolesio, Ikitau and Wright going all at once, I think they're 0 injuries away from a very inexperienced backline. Edmed and Toole will be the only Wallabies in the backline, with a current combined total of four caps

Tom Wright? Don't think he's going anywhere
