Missed most of Wellys v Aux, battening down for a storm that looks like it's going to miss us completely. Saw Clarke jog one in & the fact he went 80 is encouraging but wondering how he went overall?

@zer0 WTF is up with your guys? 0/5 for what must be the first time ever & 0/7 since R8 last year which must be close to if not their worst run ever.

So if Stags take the Shield on Sunday the Cantabs get first Challenge on 6/09 & if successful their first Challenger would be Mako on 14/09.

GO STAGS!

@waiopehu oldboy , is there a player in country that epitomes what it is to play for your province than Sean Withy. He just ripped into that game, and kind of said to his teammates, we can do this, and once ahead they all refused to lose. Chirst almighty that was great!

Clarke went very well considering it was his first game in a long time and on the wing for a terrible team. He tried hard all game - he won 2 turnovers - one by creating a maul and another at the breakdown. He ran hard when he got the chance. One of the very few positives for Auckland.

The whole Auckland NPC set up is a total mess. Former players who have no coaching credentials whatsoever are in the set up (Jono Hickey) meanwhile their scouting is abysmal - they favour the academy players over proven club players.

The whole area is struggling. CM, NH and Auks are all propping up table.
Wonder if Canterbury take shield next week, they will hod it until end of season so the Naki get's another crack?

Actually @waiopehu oldboy the way the comp is going, I can see Otago upsetting Canterbury if they got the shield.
It's hard to explain to people outside of NZ what the shield challenge seems to do to teams, especially from less favoured teams. Seems to give them extra legs etc.

IF otoh Stags see off the Cantabs they've got Steelers next followed by Mako so there's a pretty good chance Mako will get a Challenge it's just a question of who against.
I love how we all look at what results would result in our teams getting a challenge etc. Long may it continue, just showing how much the bloody thing means to us all.

And Lo and behold, finally some team from Auckland has won a NPC game this season. Mind you they only beat another team from same area, so doesn't mean a hell of a lot! Counties beat NH 22-19!

C'mon Canterbury, hold that bloody shield until Oct 4th!!!
I laughed when getting a haircut last week, even the woman who did the cut had worked out what had to happen for the Naki to get shield back
It's hard to explain to people from overseas what that shield means to us rugby people here!

Also that was a great win for Manawatu over the Mooloos yesterday, just showing how much fun comp is, and how hard to pick winners.
Also hat young fella from Reds Taine Roiri is looking better all the time.
