Wallabies 2025

James Ryan

Bob McCowan (2)
Kellaway to 15 with Wright out. It's the least disruptive option and he's actually played 15 for the Wallabies, compared to Jorgo or Sua'ali'i who are only at the start of their respective international careers. Daugunu comes onto the bench.

Is there any update on the other injuries?

Not sure about an official one, but Payto had this in his latest article:

At least they're occurring more in game than on the training paddock.
Get the feeling that we'll get a few back which should be good.

I'd back kellaway to do a job but I could also see a guy like Jock Campbell get involved.

Been there before and also allows the rest of the backline to remain in tact and Kellaway stay as the utility. He offers great attack like Wright and maintains the speed of our back three and a bit of the ball play.

I'd back someone like Grealy to come into the squad. Had a pretty damn good year.

Sorry TSR but this isn't true. NRL sides are more likely to pay high dollars for a Winger and Cents on a Centre. They are involved in the game constantly in returning the ball and taking hit ups like another forward as well as being required for freakish finishes. There would be be 20+ wingers in the NRL on more than 300k with a handfull on 500k+

There isnt a good NRL side that doesnt have at least 1 top tier Winger.

Rugby needs to hope he wants to come back because he will get offers around 500k with new sides entering the NRL.
My info may well be out of date. I don’t follow it that closely. I recall stories of players agitating to move clubs to play centre or fullback because it bumped their value up considerably.

I always understood it was on the basis that the talent pool runs deeper at winger than most/all the positions and also on the basis of the higher influence of fullbacks. Maybe this has changed but it didnt seem that long ago that the Broncos were having issues with this. (And maybe there was more to that then I understood as well).

This seems the most likely to me too.

It will be interesting if they pull someone else into the broader squad and, if so, who.

Wingers always want to get a run at Fullback and say they can do it because it's worth 200k more. Addo-Carr tried selling that to the Dogs. I tend to think you can make a lot more being a 10 year reliable Winger than a 3 year Fullback who then gets put in the too expensive basket and punted to the Super League.

rugby.com.au published separate articles for the extended forwards and backs injury list:

Tate McDermott and James O’Connor both reportedly suffered ankle injuries in Cape Town but played on due to Schmidt running out of back reserves, with both hopefully available to play in Townsville.

In better news for Schmidt, White and Sua'ali'i should both be available to play against the Pumas after passing their mandatory 10-day stand down for HIA, as will flyhalf Tom Lynagh following his concussion during the third Lions Test.

I love the thinking but I don't see it as being realistic. Kellaway, JAS and possibly others likely well before this.

JAS to fullback and Daungunu at OC. Adds some weight to the backline and negates the arial threat due to two small wingers. Len has been outstanding at IC, topped the post contact meters on the weekend, which is exceptional against a big SA team.

Yeah I think it’s just guys who are living in Sydney in the offseason/rehab getting involved.

Good to see them doing field work and Potter after a Hammy out with the 7s can only mean it’s going alright.

Also, the bloody quads on the bloke. Gaddam
