Once a player plays U20 for one country there should be a transfer fee from any Tier 1 country looking to re-qualify the player for their national senior team. All 3 Tuipulotu’s played Aus U20’s I think.

They can pay for 2 Tuipulotu’s then and we can call it square.

This scheme might help get Fiji out of debt though. I’m sure Aus, NZ, Japan and France would need to cough up a bit.

Not sure, since their development are likely being primarily funded mostly by NZ too.

I assume it was pointing out that using that criteria to determine transfer fees wouldn't be ideal. I don't think there was any intention to say that Australia poached Lambert from Scotland.

I'd imagine a transfer fee may only apply if the player is capped by the next nation? Personally see no particular issue with Ottavio transferring to Scotland, but I'm sure it stings when Australian born and raised Sione is scoring tries against his home country in front of his home crowd.

That's why I like the notion of a you can never play a game against your country of birth rule.
