Wish Seru Uru all the best at his next club. I do not hold any ill will.

He was instrumental for wests going to 3 straight GFs and arguably MVP of the 2022 win.

Dominic Thygesen the Lock who has come over from Souths is a good trade off for Uru going there

What do you mean poach back?

Seru had 4/5 years at Easts and left at end 2021 to head to Wests in 2022 where he has been aligned to until the switch to Souths.

Not the first bloke to jump ship from Wests to Souths - SSY, Troy Coker, but first I have known to play for 3 compass clubs

I hope Souths get a good return at allegedly $2,000 a game from a private donor.

As a bloke who has toiled all year in Prems for love of game & club - I don’t know how thrilled I’d be to pack down with a bloke who is getting $2,000 to run out in my club’s jersey.

I know we live in a different age but there is no loyalty in the modern player.

Easts got Suru out of Fiji and he turned his back on them after winning a premiership and now he’s done the same to Wests.

All the clubs love seeing guys (& girls) advance their careers play in Super Rugby, play abroad, etc but I just hate seeing guys switch clubs for what amounts to pocket money.

I don’t understand why De Lutus switched from Easts to Wests this year?

Seru Uru moved to Brisbane from Melbourne, claiming "Easts got Suru out of Fiji" is a pretty naive comment.

To be honest if anyone or any club is willing to fork out large amounts of money for a player or players it is none of my business - it just goes against the fabric of what I believe a community not for profit rugby club should be and just be careful about the impact it might have on your club’s culture and sustainability.
Back to Suru I just don’t think guys should get paid to play club rugby - get to next level whether that be Super Rugby, Japan, USA but play for the club you were affiliated with before you went professional as a sign of gratitude to that club.
Shoot me down - I know I’m old fashioned but really is $6k/$8k on top of your super contract really going to make a lot of difference after he pays his tax.
And yes he should declare it - he’s a professionally paid resident (income earnt in Australia) - pay your tax like the rest of us.
The Law firm paying him should be asking for his ABN.
I am hazarding a guess but I don’t recon a Thor, Wilson, McReight would send the Flith a bill for their services, nor Gill - Easts or Tate or Jock Campbell - Uni.
In fact in years gone by the QRU didn’t permit clubs to top up players contracts with payments from club land - even though we knew it was rife at some clubs.

As a your a Wests supporter..... the irony of these comments isn't lost

Also, your comments are nothing but speculation, claiming he is getting paid $2k is an unsubstaniated claim, but to then double down on that and claim he is committing tax fraud is pretty outrageous.

Wests have been hosting some of the Fijian Drua boys the last couple of seasons.

Will lose some players in coming weeks however. Whether that’s test rugby commitment, France/Japan &/or ITM cup commitments

if wests make the top 4/GF it will probably won’t feature a number of players from the past weekend

Norths beat Souths 1st, 2nds and 4th grade. Great day on Heritage day for the club. Jersey’s in Prems were very interesting, maybe someone can provide some insight on the colours.
Great day for Norths I think they also won women and Colts3.

Reserve grade played really well again.

Prems was an entertaining game - both teams bombed a heap of tries. Norths held Souths out on their line for final 5-10minutes and were two men down at the end but a guts effort from them as Souths had a real crack.

Weird colour scheme but it worked, looked like the designer had taken an acid trip to me but I’m sure there’s a reason for it. Looked like they had a very successful Heritage Day.

I think that strip was used for a period when the club merged with Redcliffe Rugby club. Will stand corrected though. The club has an interesting history.

Can’t say it was a great period for colour wise, it was bloody horrible. Good win today, showed plenty of heart against an absolute gun back row from Souths.

What’s happened to GPS? Used to be one of the toughest clubs around, now they look flat and lost they just don’t seem to have the cattle right now.

Watched them get up over Brothers yesterday in 4ths, but to be honest… the Filth got hammered by the ref and then cooked themselves with dumb decisions. GPS didn’t win that game — Brothers threw it away.

Hard to watch a club with that kind of history fade like this. Is it a rebuild? Or is something deeper going on?

Will be interesting to see who gets held to account in the season review at GPS.

There is a serious lack of top end talent at the club. Even 2nds who started the season quite well could possibly fall out of finals. The 3rds and 4ths seem quite stable and could go all the way.

I’ve said it before, GPS had a really blessed run of players from the early 2000s until recently. The Marist catchment of players were actually very strong. Particularly during the 2005-2010 period Marist had a heap of QLD schoolboys and a few Aussie schoolboys and they all came down to GPS.

Alongside that crop of players, there was an injection of talent from the Picone era and a number of those blokes stuck around or brought their mates down over the years.

Now pretty much that whole generation of players is retired and GPS have done fuck all recruitment or future planning. In fact this season they’ve had to pull a few blokes outta retirement to try and give Prems depth. It’s not working.

That loss at home yesterday against Brothers on Old Boys day has gone down as one of the worst performances at Yoku in history.

The concept of a rebuild is a fallacy in QPR. There is no draft or reward for coming last. It’s an amateur competition and players come and go each season as they please.

You’ve either got the right players and coaches to win games or you don’t. And if you don’t, you need to figure out where to find them and unfortunately these days whether you want to part with $$$ to get them.

It’s also easy to lose the young players to successful clubs as they aren’t under contract to stick around. Nothing attracts players like winning culture.

At this level rebuilding’s got nothing to do with a draft or whether it’s amateur. It’s about culture and winning – and that’s everything in this type of comp. I’ve played at clubs that didn’t have it, and we struggled. Then I moved to one that did, and we found success because everyone bought in. Coaches, players – we played for each other and the jersey. It’s not about the few bucks you might get in QPR, it’s about rocking up every week knowing the bloke next to you wants it just as much as you and GPS used to have that in spades and from what I am hearing its gone or hardly exists and that what they need to rebuild in my opinion
