NSW AAGPS 2025

I believe that Mosman didn't field a team in the gala trials.

I also heard that Newport have asked for C grade as all their Barker and Auggies star players are no longer playing club rugby.
Its incredibly hard at 16 age group and above to play both club and school. It takes it toll on the bodies. The game is much faster than what it was say 10-20 years ago and the bodies bigger, stronger and faster which means the collisions are much more powerful thus they have to pick either school or club, and school gets the nod.

Or very simply RA put the effort in to provide meaningful competitions for kids who don't go to traditional rugby schools. Here on the Far North Coast, the AFL does it brilliantly they have the Qld All Schools where teams from all over Qld and Northern NSW play meaningful school games mid-week throughout the year to then play off in October/November to be the best AFL schools' team in Qld. You can't use the argument that public schools can't do it due to the fact the public-school teachers don't want to have the added burden of coaching a sports team as the large majority of teams that play in this tournament are public schools. It comes down to RA putting some funding into Rugby, we need to employee teachers who also are Rugby guys, we need to make schools have rugby programs just like the rugby league programs at schools

Don't they have Len Diett shield?
No, speaking for my son's school who have a proper Rugby program and coached by an ex all black, an ex-super rugby player and an ex Aussie 7s player they generally play all there 15 a side games in term 1 in the lead up to the Ballymore Cup, term 2 is generally a whole heap of 7s tournaments in the Northern Rivers & Gold Coast areas, they have their 15s rep commitments to make the AICES team to play at the NSW Schools tournament @ St Gregs in July i think? Then term 3 is a few more 7s tournaments. They have scheduled in their calendar for "Len Diett" on 11 September I am assuming it is a 1xday most likely 10 a side tournament - there may be 5 or 6 schools who participate.

Sorry to bust your balls Wisemen, although I have heard setbacks up to rounds 7-8? If True could be devastating for the Shore season.
This was the man himself who I heard it from. (very optimistic take) but yes it could be as late as then. If he doesn’t want to take any risks he wouldn’t play at all, however if Shore doesn’t have him there chances are very fine.

Maybe Sydney Boys High could field a Combined High Schools team in the 1st XV and maybe 2nd XV comp. This would give kids at state schools a meaningful rugby experience. The kids currently at High can continue to play as "High"
in the 3rds comp.

They could also put a CHS team in the underage A and B comps. This could save a few schools a heap of time having to go and watch games before recruiting them.

not a shabby idea, i just think we need an alternate option for State School kids like AFL's presence in Qld public schools. This requires money, which RA sadly have none. Maybe if you are a specialised "Sports High School" you must have Rugby Union as one of your specialists' sports, then initially the Waratahs dev managers do the coaching. The Waratahs guy we have in the Northern Rivers, Will Campbell does a brilliant job.

Good on ya Wisey

Considering C Galligan was COB for Shore’s past rowing season… The clear potential for captain of rugby has revealed the possibility of him achieving a truly remarkable ‘double banger’ as we may call it.

No pressure on the kid, but does anyone have records of the last time this happened?… If ever?!

I hate to spam the forum, but I do have a question that may perhaps get the schoolboys involved…

I am aware of Shore’s trip up the coast to Lennox, and just 15 minutes ago I saw the Scots boys in the baggage collection of the Sydney domestic airport…

Can anyone fill me in on the pre-season ‘footy camp’ activities of the schools?

Cheers
