Drummoyne not running colts today at Blue Mountains.... is this a concern for Div 1 colts? And if they can't field a team, are they now a Division 5 club?

Word is Colts were combined into 3s trial
However didn't seem to be many blue mountains Colts on show
Any word on other trial games this weekend
Well if Drummoyne pulled out they didn’t have a game. So of Bluey’s had enough in the other grades no point in them showing up?
Ultimately his question is we make these rules for the lower division clubs but what happens when someone from the top end of town falls over a d we don’t enforce it

These also are trial games! Div 1 doesn’t kick off until after Easter. There could be any number of reasons why Colts and/or Grade players ar any club not just Drummoyne weren’t available for a trial. Let’s see what happens in round 1 before we condemn la club from Div 1 to Div 5.

Any word on the UNSW/LCOI/Harlequins trial yesterday?

Looks like UNSW took out the boat race in an unconventional small table set up according to the Harlequins Insta. UNSW looked in strong boat race form

so good to hear the boaties are still happening. Some of the feats I saw (and was involved with in the 90s was outstanding).
Any see that bloke from Oatley who could chug a schooner on his head.

My personal fav from the ‘90s was ‘the juggler’ from Iggies. Oh the things he could do………

Petersham has a productive day against Merrylands and Campbelltown Harlequins
Was supposed to be

1sts vs Quins
2nds Vs Merrylands 1sts
3rds vs Quins 2nds
4ths vs Merrylands 2nds
Womens vs Quins Ladies

Unfortunately merrylands only sent their second grade and a few first, but all in all a good day

Can only speak of the LCOI matches, other than noting some large units within the first grade clash between UNSW and Quins.
LCOI Colts had a 2 tries to 1 results against UNSW.
LCOI 2nds have a strong showing with 7 or 8 tries to 1 against UNSW 4th.
Tables were turned for LCOI 1st against UNSW 2nds.
Gave us a good indicator of how we're traveling and areas that need to be worked on.

Out of curiosity, where do UNSW recruit most of their players from (particularly colts)? Are they students of UNSW who are keen to play rugby, and then continue on to grade?

Is there a reason why this can't be replicated at Macquarie Uni? MQ have historically been a strong club (even had a couple of years in Shute Shield in 70s I believe) and now seem to struggle with numbers/talent.
LCOI came up against UNSW yesterday and had decent numbers across all four grades plus Colts. Did note a decent number of Polynesian players and where they recruit players from I'm not too sure.

As for Macquarie Uni I guess it would come down to those who attend the Uni and or live in the area wanting to play but if you've ever spent anytime around the Macquarie Uni/Park/Centre precinct the dominant population base probably has very little interest in rugby union.
