Jeez I saw the Bulls Sharks game from last weekend. If that's the best the Bulls have to offer they are in BIG shit.

They were much better last week. Interesting all the teams bar Pumas had off and on weeks. Pumas had two great weeks. Still say Stonehouse should have coached the Lions. Good coach.

Janno Vermaak to the Brutes
Bulls claim major Lions scalp
Johannesburg - Lions scrumhalf Jano Vermaak will be joining the Blue Bulls after the completion of this year's Absa Currie Cup, the Bulls revealed in a statement on Tuesday.

The scrumhalf, who has been part of the Lions structures since 2004, has signed a two-year contract citing the need for a fresh challenge as his main reason for the move.

"I felt it was time to make a change," he said in a statement.

"I was with the Lions for a long time and when this offer came along, I knew it was the right one at the right time for the right team."

Blue Bulls CEO Barend van Graan said that he views Vermaak's signature as another exciting step in their efforts to keep the Bulls on top of the Super Rugby pile.

"Jano is world class and will fit in nicely with our Bulls culture as he lives in Pretoria already," said Van Graan.

"We are looking forward to the contributions he will make."

Good signing but we need a shedload more than that. Another good lock, THP, centres. Lobotomy basically. Tough years ahead. Should have bloody signed Mostert. Idiots.

You just got hold of Potgieter from the Kings and Steenkamp back
The Blue Bulls Company Pty (Ltd) is pleased to announce that EP Kings utility forward Jacques Potgieter will be joining the Vodacom Bulls in 2012 on a two year contract.

The 26-year old Potgieter, who was one of the stand-out players for the Kings in their recent Nations Cup appearance in Bucharest, Romania, will link up with the Vodacom Bulls on November 1st, 2011.

The powerful ball-carrying Potgieter, who is equally adapt in playing at lock as he is as a loose forward, has been making a huge impression with his robust and energetic displays for the Kings in the First Division.

Born and bred in Port Elizabeth, where he played for EP Schools, Potgieter had a stint with the Natal Wildebeest while attending the Sharks Academy, but returned to the Eastern Cape in 2009.

Potgieter believes the move will take him to the next level as a player.

“The Bulls are the best team in the country and one of the top sides in Super Rugby. I believe my approach to the game and their style of play will be a perfect fit. I am keen to join an outfit with a track record of Super Rugby and Currie Cup success and believe this move will be highly beneficial for me as a player and a person.”

Good on Eddie B, better than waiting and hoping for an eventual crack at the Tah's. Watched a fair bit of him at school level. Very solid and dependable.

GLRU sign Varsity Cup star and junior Wallaby scrumhalf

The CEO of the Golden Lions Rugby Union, Manie Reyneke, has confirmed that Maties hooker Callie Visagie and Australia Under-20 scrumhalf Eddie Bredenhann have been signed by the GLRU from 2012.
“They are both outstanding young talents, and contracting Callie and Eddie achieves a dual purpose for the Lions: we get quality players to improve our depth, and at the same time we have made an investment in the future of our union,” Reyneke said.

** Visagie was the 2011 Varsity Cup Player of the Tournament and captained the FNB Maties in the 2011 Varsity Cup. He is a highly-rated, tough hooker and has told the website varsitycup.co.za that the move to the Lions is an opportunity he wants to take with both hands. Earlier in the season he turned down an opportunity to play for the Stormers and Western Province due to his study commitments when he was approached with a contract.

He has signed a two-year contract with the Lions.

The 23-year-old former Paarl Boys' High scholar has not played any rugby this season since a Varsity Cup-ending shoulder injury against the Ikeys on March 7, and has since been operated to fix the shoulder. He has been undergoing rehabilitation and will be fit for next season – and his dream of playing Super Rugby and Currie Cup rugby.

** Bredenhann, who has a dual passport, is a big scrumhalf (91kg) who represented the Australian Under-20 side at the Junior World Cup in Italy this year. He plays for Sydney University Rugby Union Football Club, and as a member of the Waratahs Academy was regarded as the possible successor to Wallabies scrumhalf Luke Burgess at the Waratahs Super Rugby team.

The decision to play for the Lions is indeed a big one for the 20-year-old. The former Australian schoolboy scrumhalf, who rates his greatest moment as being in the side that beat the New Zealand school side in 2008, is eligible to play international rugby for both Australia and South Africa – and the decision to join the Lions could be a watershed decision where he wants to try and play international rugby.

Shuan Taite will play for the Dolphins, Sharks cricket version
Sport24
Shaun Tait signs for Dolphins
Durban - Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait will play for the Dolphins in this season’s domestic Twenty20 competition, the Durban franchise confirmed on Thursday.

The 28-year-old, who had been linked with the team in recent weeks, will be available for the entire competition which starts in February next year.

“I am genuinely excited to be given this opportunity and am looking forward to playing my part with the Dolphins in seeing them taste success,” Tait said.

“Having played last year in Durban during the Champions Trophy, I know that I am really looking forward to getting back and bowling at a ground that definitely suits me.”

Tait, now a specialist T20 player having retired from one-day internationals after the World Cup, is currently recovering from an elbow problem he picked up while playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League earlier this year.

The injury also forced him to withdraw from playing county cricket for English club Surrey.

“We are absolutely delighted to have secured Shaun for the Pro20 competition,” said Jesse Chellan, chief executive officer of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Cricket Union (KZNCU).

“He is a world-class, match-winning fast bowler and will add much needed pace to our attack.”

“We are serious about 'crossing the finishing line' this season and we have no doubt that Shaun will help deliver on this to our fans.” Meanwhile, coach Graham Ford also expressed his satisfaction at the deal.

“Shaun is a hugely exciting addition," said Ford, “our young players have progressed extremely well over the past 12 months and for them to now play alongside the fastest bowler in world cricket will be a wonderful learning opportunity and a massive experience.
