On Thursday Morning Oz plays the Baa Baas. Imagine for the moment that instead we were playing a world XV, who would be in the world XV. In this imaginative world cloning is possible (Oz players eligible for the world XV). Only rule is the player has to have played test rugby this year.

My Tight Five nominees:
1. Tony Woodcock
2. Bismark DuPlessis
3. CJ Van De Linde
4. Keving Horwill
5. Nathan Sharpe

Please nominate anyone else who you think should be in the T5 below. On Wednesday I will (hopefully, if I have time) start a poll to select the World XV.

Ok then who else plays 3 other than Al Baxter. The beast is he a tighthead?

Loosehead.

The Scottish tighthead (Murray) is rather good, Sommerville (NZ) too, but he did not play on the EOYT as he was off overseas. Both are better scrummaging tight heads than Baxter (who should not get nominated by anyone but NTA). Not sure if the French or Eyetie 3 are any good or not - I simply do not know enough about them.

Sheridan.

Whoever nominated him, all I can say is - welcome to the Scarf, Stephen Jones!

1. Beast
2. Hore
3. Afoa
4. BBBT
5. POC

POC ahead of Bakkies as he's been on top form targetting oppo lineouts of late, and is doing great work in tight. Bakkies on the bench to come on at about the 55-60 mark.

I said it on TSF, but I think Nathan Hines is a very good lock. Not World XV, but combative, confrontational, good in the scrum, the air and the loose. I hope he and POC are the locks for the Lions. Their battles with Matfield and Botha will be enormous. Hines v Botha will be particularly brutal.

Shocking disciplinary record, though, and a track-record of losing the head. Can't risk that in SA.

Alun Wyn-Jones, POC and DOC are the lead contenders for the Lions 3 at the moment.

No disciplinary probs recently though. DOC and AWJ are both athletic skillful players, but to counter the Boks brutality, Hines would be helpful. Not sure if he will be picked, but that is my not very humble opinion.

Why is that there is a shit load of looseheads to choose from & FA tightheads who are really standing out?

Other than Hayman and I don't know any French or Italian props there isn't a lot to choose from compared to loosehead.

Castrogiovanni, Roncero, Lecouls (italian, argie and frenchman) are probably the best of those nations. 'giovanni is a loosehead (handed hayman his arse in the world cup). I can't recall what side roncero and lecouls play.

1. Tony Woodcock
2. Bismark DuPlessis
3. Euan Murray
4. Alun Wyn-Jones (my one-eyed pick) - could go fro Brad Thorn tho
5. Bakkies Botha

On this autumns form for me
(Hi to the scarf too)

It's good to see a lot of people rate Murray. He'd surely be the favourite for tighthead for the Lions? He did very well against the All Blacks in particular.

It's a shame Horwill missed the tour - if he maintained his Tri-Nations form he'd be pushing for a spot in the second row.

Murray did okay against McIntosh.

The only problem is that he only held his own, not dominated. And when McIntosh then got bossed by a 24-year old making his Munster debut, it put McIntosh firmly into the Shhhhherrrrrriiiiiddddddannnnn box in terms of hype. Murray's doing well in the GP, but frankly, big fucking whoop that is at the moment in terms of scrummaging. Shhhhhherrrrrriiiddddannn is a GP monster, but increasingly gets walloped at test level by all-comers.
