The World Golden Oldies Rugby Festival is coming to Sydney on 26th September - 3rd October 2010.

Any one participating?

I hope to be able to get some time off work to attend, and wife willing, participate.

I thought this thread could be useful to match up free agent players with teams looking for players, and to discuss upcoming festival.

The might Gordon Stags have indeed entered, as have most of the Golden Oldies teams from around Sydney. The event commences with an opening ceremony march down George Street culminating in what will no doubt be a rather large piss-up in the Exhibition Centre. The Stags will be full resplendent in full Gordon kilts and we have secured the services of a piper to accompany us on the march, should be fun.

The games themselves are graded with level 1 being full on, anything goes through to level 10 comprising of teams pretty much made up entirely of players in coloured shorts. I think we're playing level 5 and I believe the Eastwood Charcoals are playing level 4. We still have room for a few more players so if you are keen on a fun week of playing and socialising at the end of September, let me know. There is a cost, which at $695 per player has put a few folk off. However, this does include the Opening and Closing functions/dinners.

$695 per player seems a bit steep. That is a fair amount of beer to be drunk at functions to achieve value for money!!

Given it is for over 35's, I suppose most of the fees are for insurances.

Anyone go along? Match Reports?

Presume all went well, lots of beer consumed, lies told, and everything stayed on tour.:thumb

I hear Simon Poidevin had a shoulder or bicep injury playing for the Gentlemen of Sydney.

I have also been told that the Orthopods, Physios and Chiros of Sydney have had a bit of a spike in patient visits of late.:)

Unfortunately was unable to attend or play.:(
