He's got a strong running game, always gets over the advantage line, solid tackler and capable of putting on BIG hits! He's been our most consistant player and has been refered to as "Mr Fix-it". He's played everywhere. Robbies deans has stated "He has been great, he could specialise in any number of positions". He definitly deserves a starting spot on the team, but where ?

Fullback: I think he's our best fullback option (but only because we dont have many fullback options). The only thing that lets him down is his kicking game. Because of this reason i personally dont think AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) will become one of the great wallaby fullbacks. Plus next year shepard may be fit and in form

Outside Centre: Diggers seems to be a popular choice in this position. However i believe this is AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) best position. He runs great lines, great crash baller, and defence is superb. I do believe he can become one of the world's best Outside centres with more time to settle into the position. All he has to do is learn to pass it!

Wing: He would be great on the wing if diggers settles into outside centre and we find that all important specialised fullback (hopefully shepard next year). But would he be under-used on the wing?

Inside Centre: He's played here but definitley isnt his best position.

Some things that need to be taken into consideration: Diggers at 13 and other future fullback prospects. So What do u guys think ?

Needs to be involved. His kicking game is shit. Therefore he's a Cullen-style fullback or an outside centre. He should work on his kicking game and maybe we can turn him into the Chris Latham replacement we've been looking for. I'd say Matt Burke replacement, but no-one is that good.

If we had a fullback, I'd say 13 with Diggers to wing.

But we don't.

Apparently on that Chasing the Glory site he said he preferred wing, but I couldn't get past the awkward coffee scene.

I like him at 13. He can't kick well enough for fullback, or pass well enough for 12, or fast enough for wing. In fact, if you designed a 13 from the boots up it would look like AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper).

Couldn't agree more - Gerrardo at fullback, Diggers instead of Shmoo, The Earl at 13...what a backline that would be.

Currently he is our best option at 15 but his best position would be 13. Has to be in the team. Such a strong runner and has been our best back this year. I don't ever want to see him play 12 again as he doesn't have the passing game and is wasted there.

just imagine if mortlock, barnes and shepard was fit and in form, we'd have a hell of a strong backline then
9. Genia
10. Barnes
11. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
12. Giteau
13. Mortlock
14. Diggers
15. Shepard
I dont think anyone would get through that defence!

I think Gerrard would have handy for Oz with his kicking game. Sheperd is the obvious choice but he is always injured

But Deans want someone who runs the ball from 15, not kick, so Gerrard was no chance

Well it doesn't matter really because Gerrard has left Oz. Sheperd is constantly crocked, JOC (James O'Connor) is still learning his trade. It's a problem position for Oz. Turner isn't up to international rugby. I guess that leaves only Mitchell and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). :nta:

Bit rough on Turner. He is class - easily up to international level if and when he gets his head sorted.

We really are short on stocks for top class, or even S14 class fullbacks at the moment.

I doubt Mitchell is going to get any better now, he has had plenty of years to improve, and is more or less the same ability as he was at 19 when he first came into the Wallabies.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is as good as we've got at the moment, but as everyone has said his kicking is really lacking. This is going to manifest itself as an issue most during a tight RWC encounter, or in wet weather games.

Shepherd is always injured, so we need to find another option, and so a right field choice may need to occur. Probably from one of the young flyhalves. At the moment, if Cooper continues to play well, then Barnes could be an option for fullback. Strong kicking and defensive game and ability to link with the wings. Probably not the pace of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), and obviously not the running game, but could easily fill in on a 'horses for courses' policy. Thinking further outside the box, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Barnes could swap positions during a game.

Ashley-Cooper is, by far best suited at 13. He can't be played there until we have a 15. Candidates:

Cooper
Lealiifano
To'omua

If Lealiifano is at 15 for the Brumbies this year he could become a very good fullback. He's got the attributes, strong defence, good running game, good under the high ball, decent boot. He needs a bit more accuracy though, but that would come.

IMHO, he's a born 12 but could still be an excellent 15 if given the chance.

With the current rules in place, that's dumb from Deans.

I voted that he should play at 13 since gives me the shits at 13 rather than wing fullback or 2nd 5.
