My parents are in town, and while my Dad is a stauch AFL supporter, he's always interested to see the best of the best go around in rugby - primarily because of my association with it. And if I take the boy along its part of the whole family bonding time thing. Dad just needs to get used to the fact that Sam will not be growing up to support aussie rules (unless he falls in with the wrong crowd).

I'm just keen to see some top-line talent go around this year, because the only live rugby I've seen so far in 2009 is Subbies...

Anyone else going?

I'm going with the missus and friend, long late lunch first, probably at Bistro Moncur.

Ahh the pleasures of rugby being played in civilised suburbs

Nick, I'm probably going courtesy of LG in the Members. Would love to have a beer with you before or after, though.

PS. I'm not driving. ;D ;D ;D

Please, Scarfers who go, get the "Rockee, Rockee" chants going. Make him feel some lurve from the Tah faithful.

I'll be there. Hopefully it will be a cracker.

Small anecdote - was at a buck's party on the Gold Coast. Rented a house on the beach, 20+ people staying there Sat night...Sat morning, Sonny Bill Williams was training in the park and running up to near the house. Some of the league supporters and I wandered down, and one went up and asked for a photograph after he finished training. Sure enough, waited to the end and got a few pics. I was sorta hanging to one side, but his trainer yelled at me and got me to stand in.

Gees, SBW is fricking massive. Was pretty darn friendly too for a guy who could barely walk after some hard training. Was actually impressed with his attitude, actually. Have seen and heard plenty of stories from leaguies who treat people like dirt.

I think he will start at 6

He's a very good bench option as he covers 6, 7 & 8.

We aussies do have some very versatile players which is always handy if you want a 5-2 split on the bench.

Thanks Ash, good story and good on SBW. My experience is that if these guys are treated with respect they are generally pretty good.

Of course he's a good bloke. He left league :D

I wonder if he'd play for the Wallabies if Robbie got into his ear. I'm not advocating it, just wondering if Deans would convince him to go Gold rather than Black (hearted). Mind you, I don't he'd be interested in the wage lcut.

Another q, which Aussie ex-league players will come back to Oz for the 2011 season to try and get into the Wobblies?

I reckon he's suffered from being the most over-hyped teen in the NRL, and needed to get away. Still think his management should get a kick up the arse for letting him sign a 5-year deal, and then letting him welch on it.

This trip, he knows he has to stick to playing and leave the big mouthed bullshit to his mate Mundine. Gotta remember he's only 23.

Gasnier would be the only one keen for a crack at the Wallabies IMO, but he is getting on a bit. Could be a marquee signing for the 5th franchise though, especially if it was based in Western Sydney.

SBW wants to wear black, and has never expressed any interest in playing for Australia at anything, so it would be a stretch to see him run out for the Wallabies.

Hey. I'm Strayan. I have the paperwork to prove it. I had to travel to Paramatta to get the deed done. Three horses died on the way and the natives in Parra tried to sell me an Eels membership when I got there. I earned my right to hate League. Now leave me alone.

Soneeee, sonnnnnnnneeeeee.

Is it a coincidence that SBW is being shamelessly paraded to the media and the Barbarians game played in the same week as the SOO or is it a cunning JON plan? I think the latter and I like it.
