I thought Beale's intent was great all night. He was about being positive and creative. (I think Cooper will enjoy his gap running as well)

As a team we ran out of ideas when we lost momentum, we got tired and the pigs lost their close support.

well Carter, by far not the quickest All Black, managed to keep pace with him despite having to get himself off the ground at the start.

Still, wonderfully taken try. Great positioning inside Sharpie, and nice run. Not particularly speedy by any imagination however.

Cory Jane made no metres on him either

I have the distinct feeling the AB's held back last night in the second half and used that Test for a defensively styled practice game.

Geez Scorz, if the shoe was on the other foot and I posted something like that on TSF, I can just imagine the response. You really think they "held back" when they lead by only 7 for most of the half? Tad condescending?
I think the game was played at a fast pace, was pretty physical, and both teams were pretty knackered.

Cyclo, that was bit of a wind up mate... but I do think last night after half time, the AB's played low risk, territory based rugby with the emphasis on miserly defence against one of the Big 5 of Test rugby. How many kick-able penalties did they concede? How many line breaks did the opposition make? Barring Woodcock's retarded cheap shot, was there any ill-discipline?

This was a gameplan being practised against an opposition who are now a known quantity. That's how I saw it - the AB's were never shitting bricks about losing.

Hehe, Scorz. Got me!
I might be a bit slow this morning - bit too much red wine and whisky last night.

:) Hitting the Macca's hash browns mate?

If Beale hadn't scored that good try for a lack of pace Deans would have had to drop him forever for being too slow. Give a Test rugby back a head start and he should smoke the chasers every time.

I don't know why people are surprised at Kurtley's lack of scintillating pace. He has always been a bit of a pudding, although he looks to have dropped the spare tire lately. He did have enough gas though to run the length, though, so I take my hat off to him.

Don't complain about Kaplan, there were two problems. Failure to YC Woodcock was something bemusing to say the least. And giving an AB warning but failing to follow through with it. Aside from that it was a pretty good game

Also the first try came from a illegal quick throw, the players foot was in the field. Tough but it's the law. (Joubert's fault)

Genia was shit. Saia Fainga'a was my man of the match, he was fantastic.

He allowed murder at the breakdown in the first 20. It really stunted the Wallaby attack, and probably the AB attack as well. He didn't show up.

Try was put on by Pocock's ability to position himself at the right place at the right time.

Yeah Kurtley has never been a bloke for whom I would associate long range pace with. Short bursts to motor through a gap has been more his game. The kiddie did fine yesterday though and I also take my hat off to him. More please Mister.

We can stop talking about Beale's pace. It isn't an issue. He is playing fullback, not wing.

Have a look at Giteau's 'effort' in support. He only decided to start running after Beale had made it over 50. Until then he was jogging it, despite being the nearest support. Says a lot I reckon. I couldn't imagine Cooper doing the same thing. He always wants his hands on the ball.

I've long since thought that Beale is one of those guys who has great speed over the first five metres. He's never going to run down a Brian Habana or Joe Rokocoko, but his quick acceleration will be a great asset if he remains at fullback.

No, I think that's wrong Scotty. It looks to me like he's expecting a tackle, and getting into position to take the ball at fly-hlf. As soon as he realises there's a line break, he's the first there.
