Presumably Higginbotham, Genia and Harris are being given a break for a week or so?

How serious is Saia Fainga'as injury?

Interesting that Ant Fainga'a has been left out. You'd assume he isn't one of the definite selections being given a rest.

The guys who have played more games this year are getting a rest, that's why cooper is there but genia isn't. There are others having a rest too.

Gill and Slipper may have warranted a rest (IMHO), but that's about all there is to those additions.

It is just a training squad.

OK, OK, let's just settle down Reds fans.

Those names were added to attend the camp THIS week. Some players, as Mr Timms pointed out, deserve a week off after their playing commitments and this appears to be that week.

There is a second camp at the beginning of August so more names will be added then.

You may now resume breathing...

Given there is still a few weeks to the first game and the burn out issues faced by a lot of these guys I'd have been happy for everyone to get at least a week off. Especially those that featured in June tests. What's the rush? Especially now we have no sides in the finals and the best from Sa and NZ get another week or two to smash each other around.

Samo is behind Ed Quirk in the Reds backrow pecking order, how the shit does he get picked. Even a Auelua, Fardy (as a 6) or Jones would of sufficed.

Ed Quirk doesn't play number 8 like Samo and Ed Quick is also injured..
Yes but before he was injured he was ahead of him. For a good month Samo was running around in Premier Grade. And yes Quirk plays 8

I just think this selection is beyond stupid.
