I have spent a greater part of today (rain and lazy) watching and listening to last weekends games and I have come to the inescapable conclusion that there is a massive NH 'Us v them' attitude to the 3N.
This is borne from all factets from Stephen James and his ravings in the London Times to game commentators and they all seem to have this great big chip on their shoulder (or on their microphone) about anything that even looks like coming from any SANZAR origin.
One part that got me really riled was when in the Wales v AB game, the referee pinged the AB half Jimmy Cowan for feeding the second row of the scrum. The penalty was of course correct but the commentator went on about how the 'southen hemisphere nations' will carry on about how unfair the penalty was.
Why do they automatically assume we condone illegal play. They just seem to have this permanent hard on regarding NH teams and anyone that even challenges them must automatically come from 'the dark side'.
They just don't seem to be able to appreciate a game for what it is. It always seems to be some sort of threat to their manhood and they take strong exception to SH dominance as if that is a reflection of their own inadequacies.

Overseer,
When I heard that Welsh commentator say that the 1st thing I said was "fuck off idiot". I couldn't help but laugh though as they (The NH) seem to think that all SH nations have a hard on for rugby league.

Overseer, welcome. I like your style. And don't consider your age any impediment. Let's call it experience.

Jonathan Davies is a 1st rate dickhead commentator but every country has their one eyed cheerleader behind the mic.

I notice in tonight's Aus v Wales game he kicked up a fuss about Burgess feed into one scrum not being straight but hasn't commented on the multitude of Welsh infringements missed by the ref.

If you saw the BBC opening to today's game you would realise just how enormous the NH v SH thing is up here. It was Lord of the Rings themed.

I see Dayglo picked Hore as his world 15 hooker, he played all of 2 minutes on this tour.

Finally Jones has something good to say about the SH rugby teams.

Ja that Wales commentarors are really one eyed. I enjoy listening to them like any other nation specially when our lot plays them into silence and they dont have any other option to start raving the opposition.

The England vs Bokke match was top class tho even silicing the spectators. :lmao:

Jiffy Davies actually played top-level league as well, so he knows for a fact you all have a chubby for boofball... :fishing

Ignore him. We do. He's just on about crooked feeds to try and crawl to Brian Moore, who hates crooked feeds with a passion.

As for fostering a "them and us" attitude - let him who is without John O'Neill, Greg Growden or the Grewi cast the first stone... ;)

Granted. But La Tache openly admits that he's on a wind-up mission. Growden and the Grewi take it seriously!

As we take our rugby in the SH. And rather successfully it seems.

Well, I notice from Rugbyheaven that Growden apparently doesn't think Argentina are in the SH. He also would seem to count their results when they win, but not when they lose... ::)

Based on playing style, I think we should swap Argentina for Wales ;)

It was even stated that way on yesterday's TV news - Three SH teams head up the top 4 places in Rugby rankings, Argentina was the fourth. Go figure.

I found the whole NH Vs SH thing quite exhausting at times..

No. God knows, the whine from across the Irish Sea gets insufferable on a regular basis, but that Argentinian team are, to be frank, petulant, miserable, dirty, negative, whinging cheap-shot merchants.

Keep 'em down there, boys; you're welcome to them.

Noddy, on playing style, I have to agree with Ash. Most of their players are up here, so we get regular chances to confirm my above opinion on them.

You like the Argies then? ;) They are cleaner than they use to be.
