It's going to be interesting if Hooper injures himself in the warm up. I guess McCalman plays 7 in that situation. Harsh on Gill not to tour.

Robinson looks like he's back in the starting side seeing as Sio has been dropped. A bit harsh on Sio but Robinson clearly had to travel. I'd have taken both on tour personally.

Interesting that Foley has been taken, will he get a run on in the starting side or is he there as versatile back cover? Neither Cooper nor To'omua have really nailed down the jersey so I think he should get a go this year but I'd be more inclined to put him in against Italy or Scotland

Robbo and Timani should help shore up the scrum, I hope that the Wobs are practicing get all their 8 in the correct body positions and getting the back 3 to push like their lives depended on it in each scrum. All their upcoming 8 games are away from home and every team is going to target them heavily here and like it or not a lot of referees will be making calls based on perceptions a la blind Roman in the 3rd Lions test.

To be fair though, Sio has been unimpressive so far. I wouldn't say it was harsh.

Has he been that unimpressive relative to Alexander and Kepu though?

Considering Slipper can play THP (and many think he should), I'm still not convinced that Sio couldn't still be in our matchday 23.

I thought Alexander was the weakest of our four props against Argentina both in the scrum and around the field. Kepu had his best contribution of the Rugby Championship off the bench against Argentina but he has been poor in previous games.

I am interested that McKenzie considers Anae as the next best hooker in the country. Surely Hanson or Charles would have got a run ahead of him. Hell, I would have given one of those two a run ahead of Fa'ainga.

I'm pretty sure both of them are injured. At least Hanson is from what I understand.

It's hard to know where exactly Anae sits on the pecking order.

He is obviously third choice right now, but if everyone was fit he could easily be sixth or seventh.

He is definitely third choice at the Reds.

Anae is a Loosehead prop who can play Hooker & Tighthead.

He is only there to cover hooker because Hanson & Charles are not fit. Plus he has a lot of potential so getting him around the squad will be beneficial for his development.

Is there a bit of panic in some of these selections?

Horwill may not be right at all.

Dropping of Gill is crazy. Imagine Hooper and Fardy get injured in training? You will end up fielding Dennis, McCalman and Mowen as your back row. Eek.

Now suddenly Robinson is good enough again but you drop Sio, your rising star? It's not like Alexander and Slipper have covered themselves in glory.

Just seems a bit all over the place to me.

No Gill is a weird one for mine.

It's not like a replacement can make it to South Africa quickly. If Hooper was injured in either the captain's run the day before the game or on game day then McCalman would be playing 7.

I have no real problem with McCalman at 7. I said as much in the RWC. The key is the changes required in the focus and application of the other backrowers and the pack in general. The focus will have to change from on-ball to actual rucking. That didn't happen in the RWC and the Irish backrow with SOB were much more effective and practiced in the lack of "on-ball" play in any event.

Thinking of the lack of presence that Hooper has at the ruck now the change to McCalman may well not be as significant as many would think on this aspect of play. The big change would be speed of field coverage, but here again, I am far from convinced that Hooper is as effective as many believe.

Still all that said, I would have Gill starting in front of Hooper now anyway, so to leave him out just mystifies me.

Does anyone have a list of currently injured players?

I really don't understand why Kepu is touring when slipper can play TH.

Hope Hooper doesn't get injured.

I think there's a lot of panic in these selections. Think doesn't seem to have any plan and is just trying everyone hoping that they'll come good.

Maybe Gill should keep his bags packed.

CFS might be on the bench.

James O'Connor thrown out of Perth airport
Australian winger James O'Connor was removed from Perth Airport hours after Saturday's Test against Argentina.
The 44-Test winger was not allowed to board his scheduled flight and was escorted from the terminal by Australian Federal Police [AFP] officers.
A statement from AFP said officers "spoke to a 23-year-old man at Perth International Airport in the early hours of the 15th of September [Sunday]".
"The airline the man was booked to travel with made a decision not to allow him to board the aircraft. The AFP subsequently escorted the man from the terminal."

^^ Oh dear.

Some people just attract trouble, regardless.

Methinks it is time for Beiber to take some French Lessons.

I can't think of any Mungoballers that have been refused entry on to a flight, and they get up to some interesting nocturnal activities.
