For any of you stat geeks out there, it would be interesting to see a bar chart or something, comparing the number of debutants each year. Like a rate of debutants.

56.2 teams over just over 100 yrs - nearly half a team per year (although more like nearly a whole new team per year given in the old days so few Tests were played). Seems like an awful lot to me.
I know the ABs have had over 1000 but are they all Test match players?

Are you implying there are geeks on the Internet?

Damn. I just spilt my warm milo on my shirt and wet my pocket protector. What were you saying cyclo?

DPK

Peter Sullivan (51)
Name: Carew, P.J.
Wallaby Number: 1
Test Career: 1899
Debut: 1899 v Great Britain, Brisbane
Position: Prop
Appearances: 4

Don't forget, there were two world wars that could have thinned out player numbers as they did in Great Britain. Also, raids by league thoughout the century. Both of these would require replacements and inflate the number of Wallabies.

From that list I think everyone in the Wallabies is "indigenous"......

Not wanting to start a political and/or cultural war here obviously, but do you have an Australian birth certificate? If so, you are indigenous to Australia....

1106 to be exact cyclo. Rene Ranger being 1106.

Not all 1106 on the list have played test matches.

The NZ rugby museum site has all that stuff. Used to be updated by a former TSFer. Does OZ have a site with this sort of stuff?

No I don't.

I understand your point, just not RugbyFuture's. Everyone is Indigenous insofar that they originate from somewhere. What is he asking?

well technically indigenous is a term used to describe those with a historical affinity to a region prior to colonisation or 'invasion' if you will.

No, thats the way the word is used in common parlance in Australia, but thats not what it technically means.

Its the same as the word aboriginal (which has even become a standard pronoun in Australia).

So, given the smaller population of NZ compared to Australia it is easier to become an All Black than a Wallaby? ;)
And yes, I am just pulling your leg ACTC...and Scorz, and Jury if he still tunes in!!

indigenous is just the politically correct term for aboriginals, just needed to know how many there where in the super 14 to argue with some mungoes

Ha! Becoming a Wallaby seems to be far easier now than historically. You just have to be a) standing and b) breathing. Hell, if this continues one day soon we will be posting stats on how many G&GR members have a Gold jumper....
