Could they have played worse than they did against the Sharks? I certainly hope not.

I was hopeful that Mitchell would bring structure and discipline to the team and be able to improve a side that has been the whiping boys every year since their inclusion. A win is very rare and how many go into the games with them expecting 4 tries. The Sharks obviously did and did everything they could to stuff up scoring four. I can only imagine how poor the Kings or Spears or whatever they were called would have been if they were included.

I hope Mitch can turn this rabble around and at least get them competitive.

Their pack is about average - around about 875 kgs, depending on the week. That was a bloody horrible game when they played the Sharks. It was relieved only by a few brilliant Sharks tries against the run of mediocrity from both teams - and their quest for a 4th try.

Although the Super team is not the same as the Currie Cup team I thought the Lions would do better this year. The win in Rd. 4 against the Tin Ears flattered to deceive, but it looks like they are back to where they belong on the log.

Think Mitchell will come and go at the Lions. He build his Lion kingdom around Carlos Spencer and that will cost him and the Lions. No way you can waiste young talent like he is doing with Jaco Taute. Picked him in 15 , he prouce , then drop him to the bench. I'd have Jaco at his favourate position of 10 or tried him there but they still keep on playing Jantjies for some reason. They chased Walter Venter away to the Leopards, lost Doppies and just dont call him back to the sqaud. That sucks and show they are on the wrong track.
