What Kiwi back 3 would you prefer the Wallabies come up against on Saturday?

I'd be happy if they ran with Jane, Mils & Guilford again as I think they are very good without being devasting.

Rumour that Hosea Gear may be available this weekend, I don't know what to make of him yet as a test player but he's definitely been brilliant at Super Rugby.

I think their best back 3 would probably be Sivivatu, Dagg & Gear but I don't think Dagg is available this week.

Toeava may also be an option but he has been below par at test level so far in his career.

My choice as a Wallaby fan would be Jane, Mils & Guilford but I think Henry will definitely pick Sivivatu & Mils with the other wing spot being either Gear or Guilford.

Personally I'd rather NOT see Hosea Gear play. He is alot more dangerous than Jane and Guildford. Plus Jane has had a very average year (apart from last week).

And Brown probably hopes he doesn't get Jane on his outside again - watch from about 4min on.....

I'm pretty happy with Jane getting the nod.

Jane was pretty good against the Bokke. Speed to burn. very athletic
Guildford is fast. has a habit of scoring meat pies
Mils keeps defying age. He is a brilliant foootballer

The Blick back 3 has speed to burn. They are no mugs and will counter attack at every opportunity and hurt us. Our kick chase has been sh1thouse

This back 3 is as good as ours. Hosea Gear is a prodigious talent. I'd be surprised if he doesn't start if fit.

Mils definitely. Not the same player he used to be and is a liability in defence now - got shown up numerous times for Chiefs.

Guildford is prone to poor decision making and isn't really a tackle buster.

Not sure who out of Sivi, Jane, Toeava and Gear I'd prefer. Sivi/Jane have caused us plenty of problems in the past and Gear is relatively inexperienced. I'd go with Toeava, Beale made a fool of him numerous times in HK but he's not available this weekend so Gear.

I'd be very happy with Mils, Guildford and and Jane. It's a decent enough back three but not nearly as decent as Dagg, Gear and a.n.other.

Mils has lots of experience and skill but is now yards slower than any of our back three. Guildford is fast, but unless he is put into the clear, runs straight at defenders. Jane can be brilliant, as the clips show, but he can also be meh.

Dagg and Gear on the other hand are every bit as good as our lot. I really don't want to see them and I'm thankful that they're not developing the same kinds of combinations as our guys are through intensive game time together.

Their best three. I prefer Jane, Dagg, Toeava at FB, but only because Mils really lacked run speed vs Boks. Gear is the other option, I know Sivi played well vs Fiji but I think he is lacking his old turn of speed. Let's face it tho, all of them are potentially devastating.

Mils, Jane and Gear would be my preferred back 3. provides a good balance really - pace and power of Gear, silky skills and athleticism of Jane and Mils strong all round game is a potent back 3. Probably not the pace of the aussie back 3 but easily matches it in other areas

Looks like Gear is OK:

Just in time, Hosea Gear has got himself sorted to play the Wallabies in Saturday's start to the Bledisloe Cup.

He has not played for about six weeks, after finishing the Hurricanes stricken season then suffering a hamstring injury at the first All Black training camp.

That left Zac Guildford, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Ben Smith and Cory Jane as beneficiaries in the initial internationals against Fiji and the Springboks, where they all contributed further arguments for their inclusion in the Tri-Nations and World Cup tournaments.

If Gear stays intact for the rest of the week, he is being groomed for the left-wing role when the Wallabies arrive in search of an Eden Park victory, which has eluded them since 1986.

"I hurt my hamstring in the first All Black training camp we had with Gordon Tietjens," Gear said.

"It felt bad at the time but I think it has healed pretty well compared to other hamstring injuries I have had."

While the 27-year-old Gear was running around at training yesterday in Auckland, another wing, Sitiveni Sivivatu, lasted just a few minutes before hobbling away for treatment on a damaged knee. Jane ran on the right wing for much of the practice.

Gear said that he felt a bit rusty but had been working hard to bring himself up to speed with the physical requirements and team details he needed to digest. If he plays on Saturday, this will be his seventh test and a crucial match for the All Blacks and his World Cup aspirations.

"It is just working through game patterns, timings, moves and executions too. The hardest part about returning is getting into the mindset of playing again, getting into a routine, getting back to where I was," Gear said.

The left wing was magnanimous about the work of his teammates against Fiji and the Springboks. He had watched them play strongly, now it was his chance.

"For me it is a good situation, I could not ask for a better one," he said. "Guys in my position are playing pretty well and I rate those guys as the best wings in the world at the moment so this is an opportunity for me to put myself up to be measured against them."

He had no clue where he was in the World Cup pecking order but he was excited about getting a chance to audition for a place.

"I have always looked at the All Blacks as a clean slate," he said.

"I've had to start all over again each year and my spot has not been cemented so it is just about getting out on the field, doing my job, doing it really well and trying to put my hand up."

Gear was satisfied with his work late last year in Europe but once he got home he accepted he would have to start again in his All Black quest. It had been awkward with the Hurricanes. He had a collarbone injury which took him out for some time, there were player ructions, some of the leadership disappeared and he had to try to concentrate on putting out some reasonable work.

He had spoken often with All Black assistant coach Wayne Smith during the year to get a gauge on his work and what he should be working on.

His form had been so-so, but his best work had come towards the end of the series.

"He was a sounding board and gave me confidence about how to handle games and the situation," said Gear. He is undecided about his Super 15 destination next year, it could be the Hurricanes or Highlanders. He had a young family and they had to be happy about where they lived for him to be content with his rugby.

If he played at Eden Park he would likely mark Wallaby wonderkid James O'Connor who was very skilful, had strong footwork, defence and was deceptively strong in contact.

"The areas I need to work on are workrate, that is number one, maintaining that and boosting it and getting the ball in my hands," he said

i think siti is so slow he should move into the centres (like others before him..umaga, bunce) then he could replace conrad smith who as a white guy in abs backline looks out of place and scruffy and lets face it hes a lawyer by training so heds had a good run anyway and he does need the money...plus over the past few years hes missed a bunch of tackles anyway

that leaves (if all being fit) and on 2012 form dagg, toeava, jane/gear

but for this weekend - gear gets his chance, mils will get another chance and maybe jane a second shot

if i was an aussie i would be praying for this back 3: brent ward, ben smith, keiran crowley (91 world cup joke)

Jane is potentially the most devastating out of the lot but is also probably the least consistent. The scariest combination for the wallabies would be Jane, Gear and Dagg in my opinion.
While Mils is not as dangerous as he used to be he is still as solid as a rock at the back and will not make a mistake if selected.
Guildford is fast and works hard but just doesn't seem to have that Wow element to his game where he can create something out of nothing.
Sivi is not as quick as he used to be but he still has that step that makes the opposition look like a schoolboy.

Jane is inconsistent? He had a poor S15 season, but he's been very consistent at test level since his 2009 recall.

I think Jane's super rugby form had a lot to do with injuries. By the looks of it he is all better now.

Mils and Jane are combining brilliantly so i'd keep them. ?Hard to chose who to play the other side. Sivi isn't really the tryscorer he used to be but he is brilliant at getting the ball in a not so great situation and getting us back on the front foot with a run out of nothing and his kick returns are immense. Gear is a power player that can be absolutely devestating on his day but he maybe a bit one demensional. Guilford has great pace and his workrate has seen a vast improvement but i don't get the feeling he's gonna create anything whenever he get's the ball. Pace, finishing and running good support lines are probably his 3 biggest assets. Toeava is a bench player, Dagg needs game time but fit and on form would make most back 3's and has a hell of a boot on him. Kahui didn't disgrace himself when put on the wing, if anything he probably made himself easier to pick in an AB's squad with his performances there, just wish he wasn't so injury prone.
