I think this deserves a thread or has the old one been lost?

Scotty is defiantly being missed but I think the guys are doing a great job.

Is there a podcast this week or is everyone not in the mood. Lol.

Thanks for uploading the RUPA Speech, Greg Harris had some great points about the challenges in Australian rugby . Still to listen to the 3 sports-tech meet up.

Thanks Shiggins. No podcast this week, we've benched ourselves along with Sanchez.

Back next week with a jaw dropper of a guest (we think)

A good listen this week on the podcast. Rocky Elsom. Haven't herd anything from him in a long time. It was good to here his opinion on things and also what he has been up to.

As for Ben Darwin. What an interesting concept on what makes a winning team. I know the idea gets thrown around but it's good to here some actual thoughts and analysis on it. Combinations and relationships make winning teams. Maybe the force shouldn't sign JOC (James O'Connor)?

Shiggins I couldn't agree more regarding Ben Darwin and his company. I thoroughly enjoyed that and it completely has changed the way I look at recruiting.

The podcast is on a high!! Great work luring Link to the podcast. You defiantly got more out of him then the rugby club has.

I feel much better after listening to what he had to say. Firstly the point he made about a rebuilding phase I couldn't agree with more. We should never be in a rebuilding phase. Look at the all blacks. They seem to have an ongoing system so they don't have to get rid of all the old players and start fresh. We all think its going to happen soon but if you look at the amount of young guys coming through they wont have any troubles in the future when carter, macaw and the like finally move on. I don't think we are going through a rebuilding process either. Its more of a change in players and game plan. we have the same cattle as we did last year however we are using them in a different way. That will take time and once we have that sorted hopefully we can concentrate on things other then winning. Its obvious Link wants to build a team that will not only play exiting winning rugby but also create a business that has the right people and systems in place so that when he finishes up there is something that works for the next guy that jumps in the saddle.

secondly Link mentioned scrums. We are not the only team struggling to get clean ball at the scrum. The All black V Boks game showed that. However we traditionally score off set piece moves like the scrum. We have the black line to beat opposition players one on one but rarely get that opportunity in general play. If we can get 3 or 4 opportunities of the back of scrums we should be able to get under the post once. That's very hard to do at the moment and if we can get the ball out of the scrum clean and fast it will lead to more opportunities. Hopefully Robo can help.

I like the point about talking rugby and not off field incidents. Big Kev said the same thing on the rugby club last week. Talking about rugby as a sport and having discussions about technical aspects or why we are not winning is much better then bieber getting his drink on or whatever. Link seams to be more about rugby as a whole in Australia instead of just the wallabies. He wants to make an impact everywhere and I can't wait till he has some time to tackle other problems in Australian rugby.

Just as Matt was about to call the pod cast off Timmsy brings up robbo and that lead to some good discussion about the shuite shield. Timmsy is on to something about supporting it and letting it flow from there. It might take a few years but that's better then having something fail after a huge investment. Has that happened before? lol I would love to see more games. I only get the one on ABC in WA.

Thanks boys great effort.

They do seem to be getting shorter though. I like the general banter that comes after the guest has left.

Keep it up

I was wondering why there wasn't a forum to talk about the podcasts, think that would be easier then stumbling across bits and pieces related to them in various places.

Oh and as a comment on the great podcast with Link. Don't take this the wrong way, but I was somewhat amused when the guys put forward the White-To'omua-Lealifano 9-10-12 because they knew each others game and knew well the plan at the Brumbies - all this just a few minutes after Link told them one of the biggest problems was getting players to play his game plan, rather then falling back on the previous Wallabies or their Super 15 club ways. :)

It just sounded funny to me at the time - it was like a direct contrast to what Ewen had earlier said.

Sully,

Not all Nazis are equal. Some of the sub species are particularly nasty.

There are equivalents between the Reptile world and the Nazi: most snakes are dangerous, yet some like the Taipan are more dangerous than others.

The Grammar Nazi is the Red Belly Black of the Nazi. These buggers are far worse and significantly more vindictive and unforgiving than the Spelling Nazi.

One of the worst is a Sub species of the Punctuation Nazi, the Apostrophe Nazi. This is the Banded Krait equivalent.

Clearly you do, if you keep picking up people's mistakes, that are due to auto correct.

So you're saying all the mistakes on here are the fault of auto-correct?

That sounds like a cop-out.

FYI there are many mistakes on here on which I don't comment.

I was more referring to the previous week's podcast where Ben Darwin was talking about the value of having players with history of playing together - not so much the gameplan (everyone has to change to the new one anyway) but rather an instinctive knowing of what the other will do
