So Fotuaika leap frogs Hoopert into the starting side, I don't mind that, Zander was meh last week. For someone who has been in a professional setup since 2019, Zander still doesn't fill me with confidence.

It'll be interesting to see what trajectory his career takes, plenty of good props in QPR. But he is very young still, so might really kick-on.

No Tizzano for the Tahs? Not on the injured list. Looks like he's been put in the corner by Coleman.

This really should be a Reds win. As a long time Tahs fan I'm not giving up, but being realistic, if Thorn had that entire Tahs side to pick from to bolster his Reds, how many would he take? My guess is two, Bell and Perese, with possibly Holloway v Blythe and Foketi v Stewart being line ball.
It will be a big upset of the team who failed to win a game last year beat last year's conference winners, I just want to to see the Tahs have a red hot crack.

Expecting Salakia-Loto to absolutely rip in this game after the news of his move to Northampton has leaked.

Really? I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Uru promoted over LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) in the coming weeks. Bit of a bummer finding out one of your players is bailing at the end of the year, and we haven't even kicked off the second game of the season.

One of LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)'s greatest undoing's has been his lack of consistency. I'm not sure having one foot out the door is going to help that.

I'm not sure he'll be able to maintain it week in week out, but yeah for this game I really expect him to rip in. I doubt he would've wanted the news to leak in this way and I think he'll want to show he's still turning up for the Reds. It's not uncommon for players form to improve after a move off shore is announced, it gives them a chance to play with a particular freedom the may not have otherwise had.

I do agree that Uru should be getting more game time this season with him departing though, he plays a different game but he's probably the best suited we have to filling that space.

Yeah I'd be phasing LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) out. it'll take time to get his replacement up go speed. Might as well start now.

Once Wright is back, unless LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is absolutely braining it, you'd have to think he gets phased out.

The Reds have a few alternative lineups to test, ASY (Angus Scott-Young) at lock, Uru at lock, Tualima at lock if you want a more like for like replacement in terms of build.

Plenty of options. And Thorn has shown he isn't afraid to throw a player with big credentials into clubland if he doesn't suit the plans going forward.

The Magpies will be happy. A Magpie for me!

So the TAHS dropped 4 from the reserves bench from last week - i could see the prop being moved on but wasn't sure the rest were at fault:

18RESERVETiaan Tauakipulu (Randwick)FR
19RESERVEHugh Sinclair (Northern Suburbs)
20RESERVECarlo Tizzano (West Harbour)
21RESERVEHenry Robertson (Sydney University)

Ruan Smith become available for selection and is far more experienced than Tiaan who is still young. Tough assignment vs Fijian front row who were massive (and wily). Sinclair is unavailable until next week. Langi can play 6 and 8 and isn't a pure 7. Not much between Robbo and Grant except experience.

Pass it to Dunning!

Tizzano's likely been dropped because Gamble can probably do 80 minutes but a replacement 6 or 8 will have greater impact. I don't think Sinclair did much to warrant getting picked again, even if he wasn't terrible.

Sinclair is listed as being unavailable this week.

I don't think he has been dropped.

Robertson was the third choice all of last season so perhaps there was an issue with Grant last weekend or he was returning from a niggle or something (did he play against the Brumby Runners?).

Tizzano doesn't seem out of favour as much as Gamble is being viewed as an 80 minute player so being able to replace Williams at 6 (who is normally a lock) makes more sense.

Ruan v Zander would have been an interesting battle if they got on the field together (although I'm honestly not confident if Ruan will be close to where he was 2 years ago). I know the Smith twins and Zander had a good relationship at the Reds. A bit of master vs apprentice type stuff.

Adds another layer to why Zander may have been dropped though, the master never reveals his deepest darkest secrets. Zander was in for a world of pain.

Leichhardt got 120mm of rain yesterday, 34 mm today so far. The ground will definitely be "soft", bordering on boggy.

Forecast is for 5-10mm Friday, 20-40mm Saturday and 10-20 mm Sunday. We definitely chose the best day to play.
