Leeds get some Spanish flavour
2010-06-23 19:30:04

Leeds Carnegie have unveiled two front-row signings for the 2010-11 Premiership season with, with Spanish international prop set to add a new dimension to their prop reserves.

Rodriguez, 24, will be joined by 30-year-old Miguel Alonso after both joined on one year contracts with the club.

Leeds Carnegie Head Coach Neil Back says that both players are exciting options for the club. Commenting on both players, Back said, "Jesus was recommended to us by a contact in the Spanish game and he has all the physical attributes to make it in the Premiership.

"He has experience of playing in France and is someone we are excited about bringing into our system and developing his natural ability with our specialist coaching, both in terms of his position at tight head prop and his fitness.

"Miguel was recommended to us by Sean Hohnecks, who will join us for next season and who has been playing with Miguel for the past three seasons in Italy for Viadana. Miguel played against Leicester last season in the Heineken Cup and could have played in the Magners League this season in Italy but he is excited by the challenge of playing in the Premiership.

"The front row has become a vital area in the game in recent seasons, as we have seen on the international scene this summer. We already have excellent options with Mike MacDonald, Juan Gomez, Gareth Hardy and Phil Swainston and this double signing really gives us strength in depth," added Back.
