Scotland v Wallabies at Murrayfield 12.40am Mon 25 Nov

Tizzano and McReight are pretty like for like except that Tizzano lacks McReight's link and support play. Surely its just a rest.

Interesting call if Tizzano is in instead of Fraser. Carlo is a beast in defence and has a huge motor, but Fraser is the better all round footballer for mine. His link play is a particular stand out. I don't hate Potter playing on the wing.

Edit: Snap with Derpus.

There is only 6 days between Scotland and Ireland game so probably just giving Fraser a rest to be right for that one, he could still bring him off the bench when the game opens up, he would make a good impact with Tate, Lukhan etc.

Potter is very good in the air like JAS so maybe planning a lot of kicking. Is the weather gonna be bad?

My take is that Scotland are hyped up, they only beat Wales by a point, lost to Italy, didn't score a try v SA and only beat Uruguay by 12

They've also only played one Tier 1 opposition since the 6 nations, in that time we've played ten

I don't really see the rationale if McReight is being rested. As other have said, he has a big motor and hasn't shown any signs of being tired in the two games to date. If anyone were to be rested in this game, I'm pretty sure it should be Valetini or Frost who have both had big years and have also put in huge shifts on this tour. Both also have excellent backups in Williams and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) at Lock and Wilson and Uru at 6 and 8.

Think he's (McReight) probably carrying a niggle that Schmidt wants to see get better for Ireland.

Not even close to like for like.
Yeah I don’t think they are alike at all. McReight is better in the loose and as a support runner, but Tizzano is more your classical on the ball 7 who will put more pressure at the breakdown

Don’t get me wrong, I’d have McReight as a better player, but Carlo does have a skill set that may be of use against the Scots, especially if Wilson is back as his support play could counteract the loss of McReight

Not sure his support play is as good as McRights but 'in Schmidt we trust'

Disagree with this. In his tests so far he hasn't been putting pressure on the breakdown, just making tackles. On the tackle point of view McReight set the benchmark last weekend with 22 tackles and no misses v Wales.

But, if Joe want Tizzano I 100% behind it. We need 30+ test quality players to be competitive against the top teams.

I wonder if we'll keep up the Globetrotter offloads and exuberant running at what looks like will be a cold and damp Murrayfield.

Tizzano is a tackle machine yes but the attack takes a hit. McReight is a class above there and at the Pilfer.

Can't just be a rest, pros should push through with 2 games left for the year. If there is a bit of a niggle that could lead to something more long term then by all means sit him for a week.

Or, it shows the Gran Slam is completely off the mind of Schmidt and it's all about the Lions.

edit*** Scotland do grind us and make it a dog fight which we seem to hate so why not chuck our 8000cal/day staffy in the mix and let him run himself silly in the mud.

It is a squad game these days. Maybe he's just thinking playing Tizzano now and McReight for Ireland gives us the best chance across the two games based on the data he has.

yes considering jorgenson got pounded in his ariel battles as well against wales.

I'm surprised by Potter's height, I always remembered him as a short zippy winger. 1.85m ain't bad. He's the same height as Kellaway and Wright. Darcy Graham is a midget but Duhan and Kinghorn are both inches taller than our boys.
