I would be happy with either of Kingi or Lucas at this stage. I haven't watched all of his games, but have been generally unimpressed by Phipps.

I see that Kingi has replaced Phipps in the starting team and Beale has replaced Mitchell - with Gerrard going to the wing.

In the forwards Luke Jones goes to lock to replace the suspended Byrne and Davidson takes his place on the blind-side flank. Saffy is in the reserves.

Or is this old news?

I don't know about Jones starting a Super game in the 2nd row but if Sam Wykes can do it at the Force; so can he. It's just not ideal at this stage of his career. Davidson won't let them down for lack of trying: he's got a good work ethic and the guys at the Sydney Uni club follow him out of the trenches, but it's hard for him to make an impact, literally, at the Super level.

Edit - I've seen the Rebels team list on the last page now - but will let this post stand.

But you might save some tries. Do you remember Lucas on SBW early in the first Cru game last year?
You boys who see a bit of Brisbane club rugby probably are a bit more informed but those blokes could very well be attacking threats in their own right but never required to show that skill set when Quade has been in the team.

Great call on Kingi. That backline has me very worried as a Reds fan.

I can see a high scoring game, from both sides. The Rebels have some real X factor in their backs, so they should be good for some tries... but Rebels poor defence record should see the Reds also up amongst the tries.
The Reds superior defence + Harris's radar boot will see the Reds win by 8 or more.
Hoping it will be a rain free night to enable some good ball handling.

Its pointing to a cracker of a day too. Might be warmish, but it seems the rain has gone away. This could be a fast one!

It looks like the most attacking backline that the Rebels can put out. Inman looks good at 13 and I think he will benefit from the experience of the game last week and with Beale playing 15.
The issue is in the forwards. Link has picked a mobile backrow verses a Rebels backrow that doesn't offer much outside Delve.
The scrum will be interesting. If the Reds have a stable platform then I think the Rebels are going to have a hard night at the office.
I would really love to see Diggers work off Harris a bit better. I'd also like to see Harris attack the line a bit more. For me he runs across field a bit and seems a bit predictable. If he straightens and has a few runs at Cipriani then it will compress the defence and open up more space out wide as the game progresses.
I think it will be close for 60mins and the Reds coming over the top at the back end of the game. As long as it isnt a kickfest I'll be happy.

Here is my weekly assessment for the Reds games in the areas that I think are critical to win the game.

Defense - Reds here by a country mile. I do acknowledge that the Rebels second half was better, but I am not happy that they have a good solid system. Plus the Reds tackling is more efficient. The low cut is allowing more opportunity to pilfer the ball.

Breakdown - Reds to win this too. Gill has this freakish ability to pick the right time to get the ball. Like I said yesterday if he doesnt get it then he will slow the Rebels down enough to allow the defense to re-align and give the Reds a good opportunity to get the ball on the next phase.

Scrums - Even here. If anything I expect the Reds might want to demonstrate some authority here before they get on the plane to Africa.

Final Call - Mike Harris will finally miss one this week. Most likely from about 40m out.

Anything less than the 5 comp pts for the Reds will be a missed opportunity. But if they only get the 4pts then Link will work his magic in the spin department. He has been pretty good of late in this area selling to all and sundry how having injuries is helping getting rotation. I would settle for stable combinations right now and then tweak as the freight train is running smoothly but it is not like he has any other option.

Just hope it stays away. The rain that is.

BOM latest forecast for Brisbane:
Saturday
Fine, mostly sunny.Min 18Max 30

I'd expect the turf to still be a bit soft though, there's been heavy intermittent showers during the week, and an NRL game tonight.

Just an aside: what a joke is the advertising of the k/o time for this match.

The Reds' site has 7:10 pm AEST, which hopefully is right! Fox ads last night has 7:30 AEDT. The S15 site has as 7:40pm NSW and 'local' time! I think Ticketek has 7pm (unclear as to which time zone).

Someone's going to best case be highly confused, or worse case massively disappointed to potentially miss bits of the game, over this amateur level attention to v important detail.

Reds by 15 - hope that Beale can stay on the field - he seems to be copping injury (same one) after injury - hopefully it does not become chronic

IMO Rebels will put up a good competitive game for first 50 minutes - then Reds forwards will dominate backs to finish off

Go with the 7:10pm Qld time kick off. Fox broadcast will start straight after the Tahs finish up so around 7:30 NSW time but that will still give you around 30 mins to finish your beers at Caxton or wherever and get into the ground.

That timing works quite well actually as you can hit the pub all afternoon from around 2ish with Brumbies, Tahs and then this match.

Rugbyheaven also has 8:10 (AEDT). I wouldn't be surprised if the Fox Site included pre-game fluff. The S15 site is probably just being lazy.

Lazy indeed JB. It's obviously too much to expect that the body that actually runs the entire comp and arranges the fixtures could get all the k/o times right on their web site.

Anyone else see Hendersons tramp stamp? haha.

Shatz and Higgers look involved already, Shipperely has made two strong tackles on Vuna aswell.
