I also enjoyed when LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) bowled Leroy Carter out of the way at one stage, and you could see him grinning at Carter on the ground who was grinning back. That's rugby!

Damn sucks losing like that. Just didn't turn up to a big game and execute.

Defensively the Reds did well to hold out the chiefs for sustained periods but between HMP missing conversions and Tate not taking the given 3, we really didn't put scoreline pressure on the chiefs to overplay their hands in wet weather rugby.

Reds desperately need a bye week.

Listen.. disappointing loss, but some positive signs and hopefully with a few more reinforcements due back it should help the backline attack.

but they need to sort the lineout

I thought the lineout functioned much better this week and I feel was down to Canham. 4 steals. A couple of misreads on attack. Fraser looked a little out of sorts and missed his cue twice on attacking lineouts.

I think the most important thing for the Reds is that it was a much improved performance on their Christchurch showing. Means they are building into the business end of the season.

Edit: and with some more nuanced decision making and a better finish they could definitely have won that.

If Lynagh starts that game I think we potentially win.

Yes it was a decent showing from HMP but his goal kicking was off and our early attack looked quite lost. I think the decision to play HMP at the start with the new centre pairing backfired, they all looked a bit lost in terms of attacking structure. The forward pack held things together in that first half especially.

We very likely would have gone closer, but honest, HMP did OK and did some things very well.

Hmm maybe. If HMP scores that try I reckon we win. Our lineout is a problem.

I think we really miss Flook as well for attacking balance. He seems to make the right play 90% of the time or be Johnny on the spot to collect a pass. That game was very winnable if were a little more settled in attack imho.

thought tate's passing accuracy was not where it needed to be in the conditions, and decision making didn't respect the conditions.

the reds momentum through the middle was well absorbed by the chiefs.

good game to build towards finals but think the reds let a winnable game get away from them.
