If Cheika is training Tui to play 6, what does it mean for the Reds? For that matter, what does it mean for Korczyk? We already have Hunt playing away from his home team role.

I think our best game last season was with Rodda, Douglas and Simmons all on. Can see Tui and Samu Manoa (USA/Toulon) style 6/8.

I see Korczyk as a utility that can cover 7 in G.Smith needs a break or to step in there if we don't get Gill back in 2019, until L.Wright is ready to rock (think Gunn is a fade). Though I do like the option of Timu, I havn't really seen much of him.

I think Moore is just about done. Done at Wallaby level unless something extraordinary happens.

Pretty good team above, but expect Korcyzk to start somewhere. I'll really be interested to see if Andrew Ready has to right mindset to unseat Moore from the starting role.

I'm having trouble gauging the drum around Ready in 2017 with Stiles ultimately telling him to train on his own.

Next minute he's got "c" next to his name in the NRC.

I'd probably start Moore in the beginning of the season to let him help Thor and Slipper at scrum time as Thor will need a bit of guidance and James is fresh from a season off.

Gunn was really good yesterday and in round one (I didn't see the game at Noosa). He looks thicker in the chest/body and more robust. I would expect him to get more of a chance next season if he keeps this form up.

Last year I had written Gunn off, his NRC performances were poor, admittedly this year he seems to be playing far better

Maybe I'm biased but with BOTH Stiles and Thorn the squads they have to work with look (ed) much better than the other Qld team.

Let's not repeat the same errors. Thorn proving the mettle in 2017 NRC does not necessarily mean he's the bloke for the Reds 2018.

Absolutely
NRC coaching is a long way from being a HC of a Super team.

Let Thorn really cut his teeth for a few years, become a successful AssistantCoach first and then get a shot at the brass ring (HC).

Reckon coaches are no different to players in that if you bring them in too early the failure rate is exacerbated.

My comments weren't about Higgers, it was was about the slanderous comment towards the police, labelling someone a grubby cop based on what we know doesn't sit well with me. I have full respect for the police, they often have to deal with society at it's lowest ebb, it's a hard task and not made easier when people make slanderous comments or generalise without knowing the full facts.

Thorn is showing he has the respect of his players. Stiles is demonstrating the anti-thesis of this. Stiles did win the NRC twice but he also did it with one of the most talented rosters in the comp. When charge with building a struggling team, he has proven to be incapable. With one of the most experienced squads in the comp this year he delivered a big steaming turd. Thorn is demonstrating he can deliver significant improvement to a struggling side. Thorn has proven he can manage young players and also young men. The sides he has coached to date actually front up to play. He is demonstrating that he can improve struggling sides. It's true, not all former players make good coaches but it is also true that some do. Thorn is a winner, he knows the smell of victory, he has the capacity to earn it and he is also demonstrating he can transfer that knowledge and ethic to his players. Stop the rot for god's sake. Stop churning through the shit that the Reds have become and have a meaningful dig at improvement even if it does carry a degree of risk.

Did he have the most talented roster in the competition though? By the end of 2015 you could say that, because by then many had earned contracts and moved onto Super Rugby. But prior to the start it the 2014 Super Rugby season, I don't think they were assessed as having a standout squad.

The Tui at 6 thing is interesting, but I'm still skeptical. As much as I love and respect the WA rugby community and wish that the Force had lived on (even if it meant cutting the Rebels), I think it's folly now for the Reds to not look at who might become available.

I've said before and will say again, they should be after both Haylett-Petty's (one to play 6 and the other to play 15 and allow Hunt to play 12 full time), one of the hookers (with Moore to bite the bullet and retire) and Chance Peni.
