With the schoolboy teams out of the way, the attention turns to the U16s for their upcoming national championships at the end of term 3
NC-Calvin Pritchard-Eli Pilz-Reece ?-Gavin Luka-Aggasi Stowers are boys in the current 1st XV. Liam Mosely and Robbie Lane and a few others in their 16a won't be far off if they go well during the season.
Are their any 16 year olds in the TSS squad?
As much as the GPS competition may have a group of talented athletes in their 16s there are plenty of young players that definitely stand out in the AIC competition, predominately St Edmunds kids. Players like Clifton Setu (2013 St Edmunds 1st XV fullback), Carter Auld (2013 St Edmunds 1st XV flyhalf), Darece Anae (2013 St Edmunds 1st XV replacement hooker) and Cayleb Williamson (2013 St Edmunds 1st XV replacement second row)
I Thought Matt Adcock was one of the worst second rowers in his age?? He need to get some meat on his body! Looks like a stick to me ?Also Heard that Matt Adcock of IGS is the best second rower in queensland?
Dear Expert Opinion ( no relation). One wonders at the way things will pan out in reverse with the 16s this season. GPS starts "late" and they get relatively few into Aussie Open sides, but AIC who finished right in time for the Open Nationals do as well as they have in a long time. Given the end T3 timing of the U16 Nationals, will the GPS season allow GPS U16 contenders to be better placed to have a go for the teams than the AIC boys who are also in with a shot but who finsihed serious footy a term ago? The trials system introduced by Paul Carozza allows for some match fitness to be maintained but it's not the same as playing each weekin meanningful games. I would suggest there is scope for keen boys to link with local clubs, even Colts if they can, to at least train and maintain this fitness. On another note, I wonder how many of the Eddies boys listed will remain at Eddies if they make Q teams. As much as the GPS competition may have a group of talented athletes in their 16s there are plenty of young players that definitely stand out in the AIC competition, predominately St Edmunds kids.
