Found these articles after seeing the print versions in the Qld Country Life. I knew that the tour was happening just forgot that it was now. I believe that there was a send off at the Brothers Club in Brisbane on the 20th. Perhaps someone was there and could fill us in.

I thought I would post this just to show that there is support for representative rugby outside of Brisbane. We had a discussion about the viability of such teams on this forum and I thought this give an indication of the commitment to the cause that is out there. Just imagine what organisational skills have been on show to get this team together and to the US.

I will see if I can get some more information over the next ittle while.

The Queensland Country Life Queensland Outback Barbarians (QCLQOB). That has to be one of the longest team names outside of Wales.

Geoff Barton does a fantastic job organising the Outback Barbarians every year or two. He spent a number of years as manager of the Central Qld Brahmans and, with no disrespect to all that have come after him, things have never run as smoothly since his departure (mostly because everyone was too scared to say no to him - players, sponsors and the head coach included). As per Suckerforred's original post he is a great example of someone who has worked tirelessly over the years for the benefit of country rugby.

For those interested he is also the father of Scott Barton who played for Brisbane Wests, the Reds & The Brumbies (as well as Rockhampton University).
